Smoking ban when working in private homes.

What is the law in England about the householder smoking in their own home if we are there cleaning as a self-employed person - either carpets, general or windows?
I am asking about what the law says rather than what we might personally choose to enforce or what we find is practical or pragmatic. Thanks.

No law is going to exist to stop anyone smoking in their own homes regardless of whether work is being carried out or not.
It may be your workplace but not theirs. You can't smoke, they can.
The option to walk is yours.

Yes its a home not a commercial premises. No law applies - they can smoke and you or your employee(s) should'nt.

Maybe as an employer you should keep your staff health and safe by providing breathing masks when they enter that house?

i believ that staff can refuse to work in these conditions if they wish, when my mum had a carer come to her bungalow it was stated that no one was allowed to smoke whilst carer was there and that if someone did smoke the carer was to leave.
