Hi all,

About to sign up (finance!) to Ionics for a pro 5 300 litre system, cold water. (would love the thermo but just cant warrant it!)

has anyone got this setup and are you all happy with it?

opinions greatly appreciated, it costs alot of money!!!

Hi Greg,
I purchased one from them four years ago, and have never looked back. The model that you are buying is now slightly modified but at a guess not that much difference in the way that it performs. I have had no problems with it, other than when I let it freeze up one winter (my own fault). Even then they had it in, pressure tested it and replaced all the split pipes & connectors at a reasonable cost of about £60.

As it happens, I have just outgrown mine and I am in the process of buying a larger system from them. All in all I highly recommend 'Ionics'

Hi GSW,

I too have a ionics 300 litre known then as the commercial.

No probs with it although i have modified certain bits like the breather pipe i moved to outside the van to stop water spillage and i always spin the filters round every fil up to give them even wear.

If you can afford to step up to a 650ltr system then do it.

A 300ltr system wouldn't keep me going for a whole day, I have a 650ltr and on a busy day am lucky to come home with 50 ltr's.

I originally considered a 300 but didn't want anything to get in the way of growth.

should take a look a our 300 twin r/o boostered system costs less and comes fully loaded will produce a whopping 250-350 liters an hour ,  also has its own digital relay switch  encased in stainless steel frame and has auto cut off via solenoid , speed linning also available on all systems .. finance available on all newly purchased vans

with water produced at that rate ,system size of tank is not to much off an issue as the production will keep up with your out put

....but it can be a real pain in the butt, to fill on site, especially if you're only on site for 20-30 minutes....     .... and that's assuming there is an outside tap available !!

Correct me if I misunderstand you please.  Are you saying that there is an RO system that will produce 250 - 300 litres of pure water per hour that you can fit in a van?  That sounds like a much higher rate than other figures I've seen quoted.  Is there a minimum requirement for the water pressure to achieve that?  Also, does the TDS reading suffer from filling up that quickly?  As it is not practical for me to produce pure water at home, I will be after a fast fill with reasonable TDS so that the van will not be tied up for too long.  I had thought that a static tank installed somewhere would be my only way to get a fast fill with good TDS.
If I could hook up to a tap from time to time as I go round that could be a real bonus.
I'm still putting the pieces together at the moment as I will need to upgrade to a higher payload van soonish before getting a tank fitted.  I will be looking for something with a 1200+kg payload for a 650 litre tank.

BTW.  I would need a fairly decent TDS after the RO as I live in a hard water area (want to keep resin costs down).  I'm not too far from you (Crawley).

You will find that Carl is now window cleaning and set up his own business, he had been selling the benefits of wfp cleaning and realised that he could build a great business.

yes it a does fill at that rate,i would not state it otherwise , many people on this site are festidious over accuracey, they allways correct my spelling anyhow  i think the psi of some who have had our systems is around the 32-37 psi , also the tds reading does not suffer nor do the membranes

unfortunately I have just bought a berlingo with a 600kg payload, hence the 300 litre system. I have plans for a holding tank in the garage though!!

does anyone else do this? van mounted system filling a holding tank in garage or shed to feed back to the van via gravity incase of running out of water, was only planning on pole for tops, anyway so am hoping I will have plenty for a days work.
