Hi all
I've just surveyed this job (see pic) and as I've done previous work for this customer would like to offer them a solution to their problem.
They want to restore the original appearance of the face bricks in the fire place. The bricks are covered in old soot from when it was used as an open fire place, they're about 150 years old, porous and vary in their hardness. The pointing is traditional style lime mortar. For a test patch, I used 100% Ultrapac, rubbing with a piece of white abrasive pad, dabbing off with paper towel. Due to the uneven surface there was a better result on some areas than others, but overall looks promising. This is more restoration work than cleaning so I need some advice.
Can you suggest another chemical or what do you think?
Thanks
Grant
