Wiping blade marks at a distance
« on: October 29, 2010, 08:21:40 am »
Priced and won a job the other day that has a single high internal pane that needs cleaning.  I can blade it with a 2m pole extension, but I'm wondering how to finish the top of it (with microfibre).

I'm thinking of wrapping the m/fibre round the blade and polishing at a distance but I assume there might be a better way.  Anyone?

It's one window at one customer, so please assume that I don't want to buy new kit to do it.

i use a fixiclamp that pops on the end of my extension pole and put the microfibre in that but your way will do the job! ;) ;D

That what I do, too. Use the Unger green fixi clamp. Wrep a m/ cloth around 2 sponges, get it as tight as possible and then scrunch it in the clamp for more surface area or more of a leading edge if you like. Those clamps are great, just don't over tighten them, finger pressure only.

if its just detailing the top of the frame after blading then just wrap a large microfibre round the end of the pole and secure with an elastic band

If it's not too dirty then try to avoid touching the very top frame when you wet. Obviously go close but just miss it by a few mm.

If you do need to get the top edge wet (because they are really dirty) then after you mop the window, while the window is still wet use a thick microfibre floor cloth over the end of you pole and wipe the top edge. Then blade off as normal.

If you are proficient using a pole then you won't have any runs after that.

A cranked angle adapter on the end of the pole, slightly offset, makes it easier to detail the corners with a cloth just folded a couple of times over the cone.

The fixi clamp is too much faff on just for detailing -  (though it's OK for cleaning frames with a sponge the traditional way)
