yellow stain in front of toilet on safety floor
« on: October 22, 2010, 01:08:54 am »
any way to remove this or at least minimise it's appearance? i've tried ubik 2000 which was suggested on hear and left it to soak it in as well as i've spent ages with a small hard brush to try to remove any part of it but it's not coming up any better.

any ideas?

i appears to be a mix of pee and constant feet marks that's caused it

There are a couple of options, I have yet to find a commercial product actually designed for this.

But you have the following armoury at your disposal
it varies on the floor how much can and will be allowed to be removed. Sometimes it is permanent damage as it actually discolours the vinyl.

isopropyl alcohol - white cloth and scrub

baking soda - mix as a paste use until stain gone

Vinegar - soak in

Bleach - place on a white cloth and scrub

As with any thing, always test an inconspicuous area first.

Iv'e used bleach mainly and it removes most - a little time consuming

Hope this help

If you can get you hands on some enzyme digester and apply that initially and let ti dwell for about 10 mins. then get a brillow pad or similar and scrubb in a circular motion for a few mins. Then pour hot water aver it to rinse it. Have a wet vac with you to take the whole lot up. Combine this even with the last post with the baking soda and vinegar, I appreciate where coming from in terms of neutrallization but it might not have the aggression if hard brush was already used. I honestly would never touch bleach, it kills us too. I'd use a sanitizer instead. SanAir is fantastic.

Don't waste your time, you're not a magician but a cleaning contractor. Are you being paid for all this 'care'?.

The floor surface will have been 'burnt' by the uric acid from the pee splashes and whatever you do won't make that particular area look like the rest of the floor. Cleaner by looking lighter in colour certainly after you have spent time and energy on it but believe me, the next day it will just be soaked again. Even if you put a notice up asking the punters to 'shake and dance' they will drip on that spot.

In Schipol airport in Amsterdam they have these great hi-tec w.c's .... automatic taps, flushes the lot but the best thing they have is the picture of a black fly right on the bulls-eye of the urinals. That's the way to sort the problem! Psychology ;-)

Plasticised migration is impossible to remove , safety floors should be treated with x3 coats of metalised floor polish when new, then redone every year there after.
