Sourcing fittings and tubing for WFP
« on: September 22, 2005, 10:00:16 am »
Hi all
What sizes and where can I get the following-

To join both sides of Shurflo pump and filter.

Flexible hose from Vikan brush head, down the pole to hoselock.

And, do you favour running it inside the pole, or externally?

I want to make this up bombproof!

All advice welcome

Chris

Try this company they are quite good

If you can't see the part you are looking for phone them up as they have more stock than they show on the web site.

Wintecs is where I got mine from. The Trcoflex 8mm bore airline tubing is brilliant. I have 30 metres on my trolley hose reel and up the outside of the pole. I got that from williams pumps.
In order to get 8mm bore hose on your reel you will have to find an adapter that will go onto ordinary garden hose and onto your 8mm tube. I found an old gas fitting that did the job at a car boot sale. I used 2 jubilee clips to hold them on and a black sheith used for jointing cables over the the 2 connectors. This is to protect the hose from any sharp surface on the clips.
Wintecs do an aluminium one that goes on a hozelock connector but it was too bulky for me. Good luck, Dai

Cleantech are good.  I recently ordered some gear from them and it was despatched very quickly.

Unfortunately they didn't use Royal Mail, (I can't remember the name of the carrier), but they attempt to deliver twice then you either have to collect in person (which would mean an hour plus drive to Cardiff for me), or it gets sent back to the originator (Cleantech in Scotland).

Had they used Royal Mail, then I could've just picked it up from the local Royal Mail centre.

Luckily enough, Wor Lass was off work with the flu, so I managed to get my parcel without any major traumas.

I suggest you ask them to ship by Royal Mail (if they will), otherwise receiving your goods could cause you a bit of trouble if no-one is at home during working hours.

Agreed Tosh, Cleantech are pretty unreliable.

I didn't say that, I said they were good in that they despatched the stuff quickly.

It was the carrier I didn't like.

I would've prefered Royal Mail.

Agreed Tosh, Cleantech are pretty unreliable.

I ordered somescrim a few months back and it took THREE attempts to deliver it!

Luckyily for me the neighbour broke his leg and was in to accept the delivery in the end.

Keep to the subject.  I know what you use scrim for!!

Tosh's comments about getting stuff delivered has happened to me as well. It might sound triviel but its a real problem. I phoned the carrier up and said leave it on the doorstep but they wouldn't do it.

Many thanks for all your comments. I found Mike at Cleantech very helpful on Friday.  Will talk again on Monday, order the gear and suggest they look at carrier options.
The chap at Williamson pumps was also very helpful - thanks Dai.
