Going to look at a 1st floor flat clean tomorrow, This will be done using WFP. How do i stand with the owner of the ground floor flat when water starts going onto their windows. When I'm there i will ask the owner of the ground floor flat if they would like their windows doing which would solve the problem.

What do you guys do?

tell the potential customer... i dont do flats.     
 saves alot of hassle.

I had a couple of jobs like this once and person on ground floor already had a w/c  so all I did was when I finished cleaning the 1st floor flat I gave their windows a quick rinse as thats all they need.

Just blade if off if they are being funny. Should take 10 secs per window if that! And it doesnt need to be perfect either because its pure water so shouldn't leave a mark...

That's all there is to it. So long as you're straight with the people below there should be no problems.

luke i would look at the groundfloor flat if there windows are filthy explain you are doing the flat above and ask if they want theres done. if they say yes great, but if they say no... i wouldnt touch them why should they get a freebee, and they obviously arent houseproud. different story if they are nice and clean u will have to make good. I do flat above some shops, i literally sqeegee off the dripped on area...thats it.

Try and get the downstairs one as well. Even if it means offering a low price. While you are there doing the upstairs flat it only takes seconds to do the downstairs flat at the same time. If not, blade or rinse it off for goodwill. If the person in the downstairs flat starts moaning to your customer you will probably lose them.

If i lived in the downstairs flat and a window cleaner started splashing my windows with water whilst cleaning upstairs i would be enraged,even more so if i already had a window cleaner and even more so if i did them myself. Unless both upstairs and downstairs agree to a clean at the same time i would not get involved at all and can only foresee problems(maybe not of course).
So if i lived downstairs you would be a wfp menace and i would be looking for someone to report you to.

all the hardened wfp lads will disagree but I just trad them from a ladder as it saves any hassle, I have a few other ways as well like do them quick and scarper or do them in the rain,

i have 31 compact granny flats that i clean trad as i dont clean 6 downstairs flats and most of the frames are oxidised.i still get a good hourly rate off them so there stayin trad!


as a matter of fact i enjoy cleaning them as i dont trad much anymore(apart from the odd ground floor windows).nearly all pay on the day as well so happy days!!

I don't do flats unless it's the whole block (for the freeholder) or ground floor only.  Even when I clean my own flat, I also clean my downstairs neighbour's windows (free of course).

generally I inform them before and if they are good, then I clean their windows for free. No probs for e. But sometimes I ask my client to talk to their flat mates and in form them about the cleaning work. I am lucky they also asked me to do work for them. Thats by chance.

I would try and get the ground floor as a custie.  If they already have a wc then I'd have the ladders out.
