Hi I am putting together my revised terms and conditions....and have just started adding some items that I find need clarification....

Forget the fact it's in English as I will translate it into Dutch later but what do you make of the 'flow'?

Just to make things clear I work on a scheduled date service 8 weekly in the main with the odd 12, 16, 24 and 32 weekly.


On the day of the clean please ensure that all windows and vents are closed and that the agreed & safe access is provided. Failure to do so will result in open windows not being cleaned and should the agreed & safe access not be availble that section of your property will not be cleaned and the agreed charge for the complete property will be levied.

Whilst we strive to clean your property on the 'scheduled' day it may from time to time be necessary to change that day. We do clean in the rain. however if we find it unsafe to continue or start work particulary during storms, thunder, lighting, heavy snow/ice/rain we reserve the right to provide an alternative date for the clean. Our preffered method to contact you is via email. Please ensure that we have your correct and current contact details such a telephone, email address.

All outstanding balances must be paid within the agreed period failure to do so will result in us contacting you using our normal methods i.e telephone, email, letter etc.  Each late payment request will incure an additional 5 euro administration cost which will be added to your outstanding balance.

We are no longer able to 'skip' a clean owing to holidays, etc please contact us and we will work with you to arrange an alternative date.

Should you have building/maintanance works, painting etc performed on your property which causes in our opinion excesive soiling we may charge an additional fee to remove this soiling to account for the addtional time and work required. This is particulry relevent to painting as our past experiance shows that after painting heavy soiling of greasy finger marks, cleaning soap is very evident and time consuming to remove. Please note we do not use scrapers/blades on your property. Concrete, cement, paint spots/strips will not be removed by us without prior agreement.

All cancellations or changes to the scheduled date by yourself should be made within 2 working days in advance, this is to allow us to plan alternative work, failure to do so will result in the agreed cleaning charge being applied for that date.

bloody hell dave!! ::) ::)i dont know what its like in holland but i dont think that would wash with a lot of my customers!!

open window?close it with the brush!

i say im round every 4 sometimes 5 weekly due to bad weather sometimes

i will skip a clean if they ask prior to going on holiday

i obviously charge a bit more if the windows are bad due to building work

payments in cash/cheque or online payment


i dont need t&c and never needed to in 16 years of window cleaning!!
price higher/work harder!

I understand your reasoning for putting something together but its hard to implament it in this industry,   you would get a lot more success on the commercial side of the business but on the domestic side customers would object.

and if they did what do you do then ?

All my customers get a set of terms and conditions when we take them on so they are not new to them....it's just that this year I have had many, many instances of turning up and gates locked, getting to houses and find the painters have been and the glass is minging and the painters have used washing up liquid to cleaned the frames  before working and this is all over the windows...I end up spending lots more time cleaning up after the painter, buillders etc.

I work using a scheduled service and the difference between 8 weeks and 16 weeks is very noticeable especially if they live near water i.e lakes, ponds etc...lots of them here. Again with a scheduled service I may be in one area 1 day and then not again for another 3 or 4 weeks...so just coming back tomorrow can present problems meaning I have to drive out of my way using time and fuel just to do something that was agreed by date anyhow.

These items are just a re-iteration of the t&c's but in this case they will be on the back of the 'windows have been cleaned today' cards which I am putting together for the new design.

The only reason that I am putting this in the new leaflet is that this year I have spent far to many hours cleaning up after painters (most frames here are wood and are not your thin type like in the UK), Builders muck and people using pressure washers will in turn throw muck all over the windows.

The terms and conditions are agreed by the customers when we first start but I feel a set on the back of the cards can only act as a reminder.

Daz...I am aware of how to close a window with a brush but many house use 'stays' to keep windows open r/a wind...just because you have not used t&c's does'nt mean they do not have a place...think of them more as guildlines

BFG... If people continue not to pay or not allow access they are advised and then let free if it causes me to lose money but I feel letting the customer know will keep eveything in check.

Thats superb Dave, i hope that sort of thing works okay in clogg land.
 
I think we should be doing that sort of thing over here but the british mentality would not allow it.
and thats on both sides of the coin as many w/c's dont want to rock the boat with custy's - even ones
that are bad payers don't and custy's getting stroppy because the windows were missed as you didn't
unbolt the back gate a left several windows uncleaned. yet demand full payment.
