is window cleaning for eot cleans easy to do?
« on: October 09, 2010, 12:56:47 am »
have been asked many times before if we do window cleaning when doing an eot clean and always said no as i didn't want to go into another new area and not do it well, but after reading a few threads on here i wonder how easy it would be to do as a small add on service when doing eot cleans? i get the impression the hard work is not the general cleaning of windows but getting work, running the business etc.

also as i've never once looked into this i have no clue on how much people would charge for this and any idea of equipment needed etc so would appreciate advice with this if someone has some time to spare.

first you will need to explain what an eot clean is, nah its ok I have just worked it out end of tenancy I guess.

why don't you tie in with a window cleaner in your area and let him do the work,

tried contacting so many and didn't get a single reply from any of them so quickly gave up. had a company contact me for commercial window cleaning but not one off window cleaning jobs like eot cleans, i guess because there isn't any real money in it for one off cleans?

you guess right, eot = end of tenancy

also it's worth doing it myself as there is more money for us. don't want to insult any window cleaner but as far as i'm aware all that's requied from eot window cleaning is for it to be cleaned and dried without smears. seems simple enough (notice i'm not saying just simple) for us to ourselves as we pretty much do this on the inside maybe even more meticulously, so we just need a ladder now but could be wrong...

My wife does domestic cleaning and there is a market for it i.e eot window cleans, the problem is a lot of window cleaners will not do one offs, I will but just make sure I charge a decent rate, and I would happily do work with local cleaning company's but I know most window cleaners would not. I am interested in this subject because it is an untapped market in many places, but to be cost effective the price has to be higher than the going rate unless it is where I am already working .

I dont know how many eot cleans you do a week but I could certainly fit a fair few in but as I say it would be at a premium price and if the cleaning company wrote that into their quote it would not be a problem, but if the cleaning company turns up and quotes 12-15 per hour and I quote a set price that seems higher to the resident it does not really work

I am waffling on here and probably haven't helped you but I am interested in this and would like your feed back, and in the mean time someone in your area might read this and offer their services, and if that doesn't work maybe we will tell you how to clean a window ;D

Im struggling to see what you need advice on, if you already clean the inside of the windows just go outside and repeat = one clean window

You can get a trad set up cheaply.
£30 - Applicator, squeegee and bucket.
£100 - for a set of ladders
£25 - Bucket on a belt, pouches and belt
 -   I'm sure you have microfibres.

£155.

You'll make that money back in no time. If you use these for the insides they will speed up your staff as well.
