A new customer phoned me the other day and i went round a gave a quote and they were happy with it and i am going to clean them next week.
But just as i was leaving she told me that her bathroom window had a problem and that above the bathroom window is an overflow pipe for the water tank that has been leaking for the last year and that it has left a limescale mark on the window..

My question is : Is it ok to use a common limescale remover on the window or not? i was just gonna use the mr muscle limescale remover the misses has under the kitchen sink but thought i better just ask on here first and see if anyone has come accross the problem before and used another product...

Viakal from the local supermarket is good, or a stronger product is MDR.
But it depends how long the stain has been there, if its been a fair time you may not be able to remove it at all.

I use cillit bang and never had a problem, besides if the window is cover in limescale what damage could mr muscle do? Not much I expect

Yeah  i suppose ..lol... Well she said she wasnt that fussed if i could get it off or not because its a bathroom window and she cant see through it anyway.. but asked me to give it a go...

She said that she just wanted a one off clean first to see how good i was before she agrees to using me for regular cleans, so i am really wanting to remove it to get the business.

I asked the same thing a few months ago.  Tried everything suggested with no luck.

Then someone came up with the idea of a brillo pad and it came up perfectly.  The secret is to keep it very wet and move to a new one if the soap begins to run out.  Lovely job; I now have a box in the van for when I hit difficult problems.

Make sure she doesn't turn you over.   If you're going to put all that work into it the price ought to be high.  You could always say she'll get a discount on the third clean.  Otherwise there's nothing to stop her letting you spend hours on the job, paying you your regular price and then saying 'Actually I only wanted a one off all along, so thanks and goodbye'

And then you remove it, spend loads of time on it for standard rate, and she says bye bye sucker.
So she wants to try you out to see if you're "any good".  That would send alarm bells ringing with me.  Many years ago, I even had one guy after a "free trial" for the first clean.  I told him I was a window cleaner - not an internet service provider.  We both laughed and it didn't happen.
I would be wary of this one.  It sounds like she wants the upper hand from day one.  As  far as I'm concerned an arrangement with a customer is two people agreeing to give/receive a service on equal terms.  If a customer starts showing too much sign of wanting control, I might as well be on the PAYE working for a boss.

Its ok guys.. i have quoted her for a one off clean and said if she ends up using me as her regular window cleaner then the price would be cheaper... 
she is going to be in when i do the clean, so i think i will clean the rest of the house first and ask her if she is happy with the standard. and if she is, and agrees to go ahead with regular cleans then i will clean the limescale off the window...

i use lime lite from asda spray it on and rinse off
