Small Gym Matt - Yeah Right!
« on: October 08, 2010, 02:43:09 pm »
A neighbour asked me about cleaning a "small" gymnastics mat and said they were looking at spending about £30... I told her my min charge was £50 and she protested that it was a 'kind' of charity and it was only 14 metres ??? but I said I'd take a look anyway...

I got there and my eyes nearly fell out.. "I think the sizes have been under exagerated... a lot!" I said to the gym owner.

"No, it's 14 metres"

"Er, no it isn't!"

"Yes it is, it's 14 metres by 14 metres!"

"So it's 196 metres squared"

"Oh right, can you do it for £40?"

Anyway, I worked a price out which is still fair but I have a hunch they're getting a RD. She told me they were only £30 for 24 hours and I explained the pitfalls of trying to save a few quid and made a point of asking how much a brand new gym matt would cost. :P

She did mention that a few of them had used a Vax a while ago but it was "Too much like hard work!" ;D

I wouldn't feel bad about charging my normal rates, after all it was their own stupidity which led to the misunderstanding.  They should feel remorse for wasting your time.

Do the electricity and gas suppliers take pity on them?  Does the water company let them have their water cheap?  Of course not!!

I hope you quoted at least £1.50/m² for it mate, some people take the absolute mickey!!

I had one of these earlier on in the year ex gratton catalogue shop in Mancheter ,got told it was about 60 sq metres when i got there my eyes nearly popped out me head :o

Asked them who measured it because it was nowhere near 60 sq metres and they said if it was our boss hese normally pretty good on his measurements got the tape measure out 480 sq metres ::)

Needless to say didnt do it that day and ended up doing it on a sunday for a lot more than the origional quote and took dave powers with me.

Sweat and soap residue, NICE!
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.
