The Guild has its merits, and for £20 its great value.

The FWC has far more merits, and for the extra £72.50 its gives you much better value.

we have looked at this before and i think we will finally go with it - unless anyone can say different???

The Guild has a smaller membership & much less clout than the FWC,.. in fact the two can't really be compared as the Guild is not a trade association. Everything has to start somewhere though and the Guild is gradually growing and will soon have the membership numbers that will enable us to influence the industry for the better.
Joining both organisations wouldn't be a bad thing. :)

Guild for me. The best £20 I ever spent. Had jobs through their website listing- One specifically because I was a member of the guild :D. You get stationary pack, logos/branding etc, on cd-rom for all your paperwork/advertising, a van sticker, listing on their website & a certificate of membership!!!
Adds a real professionalism to your business.

What will the FWC do for you?  I ain't lining the pockets of some fat git behind a desk trying to justify his wage! ;D

Yes they are, small guild logo approx 6" x 8"?

I'm still amazed at the £20 membership fee, the guild have my utmost respect & support. ;)

One thing to note,..
Because the Guild is run voluntarily, we decided early on to minimise the workload by having all membership renewals due on Jan 1st regardless of the date you joined,.. so join now and you only get 3 months for your £20.

This system is changing though, it was a great idea to start with, but when you want an organisation to grow, starting off every Jan at square one is a bit of a hinderance in the long run! Its impossible to switch over mid-year though.

From Jan 1st 2011 all new Guild memberships will run 12 months from date of joining, so it might be worth waiting a bit. Pre-registration for 2011 will open on November 1st, and once applications are received (and complete!) by December 18th you should have 2011 member packs in your hands before the new year starts. :)

We will also be offering enhanced website listings on www.mgwc.org for those that want it in 2011 for a small additional fee.

My concern is, the guild quotes on its website -

" To ensure that our members are adequately insured for your protection "

look at the East Anglia members list http://www.mgwc.org/EA.html

1st listing- Ian at window washers is insured
2nd listing- insurance  out of date
3rd listing-  insurance out of date
4th listing-  insurance out of date

Now I am not saying that  they are not insured, maybe not been updated, but if I was looking for a window cleaner it does not look too good if the guild can't keep the details upto date .

Winproclean, you asked this question - what will the FWC do for you?

In this October’s edition of the FWC magazine, there’s an article about a window cleaner who decided to move to the USA, when applying for his Green Card he was asked about trade federation and to provide proof. So the FWC helped even in this unusual instance.

If you can’t see the benefits of the FWC, you can’t be expected to understand them. If you paid £20 for Guild membership and all you can do is get excited about get some freebies, stickers etc you probably don’t see the bigger but limited benefits of the Guild.

For an extra £6 a month you can have FWC membership, but if that is out of your reach, I would recommend the Guild.

Right, who's going to be moving to the USA? ::)

I can understand anything that you might care to reply, SO, I'm going to put the ball in your court & ask you to explain to us all exactly what the Fed can do for me? Go on, please explain we're all waiting to see if you're just full of hot air or not! ;)

Let the mugs pay the Feds wages ;)

would USA have let him in if he belonged to Guild, I was gonna join one or the other but doing fine without! I don't intend emigrating to the USA and all my customers worry about is that they get their windows cleaned not if I belong to some club...I would like one of those stickers though!

You already have an example there winproclean about a window cleaner that decided to move to USA and being a member of a trade association, helped him. Your only understanding of that is your comment about who’s moving to the USA!

So it comes across that you actually understand very little. If you can’t get your head around that one, there’s little point of explaining the subtleties.

I must know very little too. Can't you educate us? Or maybe it is just hot air.
Nat's explained the benefits of the guild, can't you just explain the benefits of the FWC?
