I have not got one now but im sure there is lots of people that have one that dont use it
I had one and would not recomend the ones that have 6 sections with some of the sections 12 foot sections as hard to put up

Never had one of mine stuck yet! HOWEVER, I did follow Alex Gardiners advice & followed the instructions exactly!
It's a problem that can very easily be avoided Dave.

Was using it today, a hotel at 40ft. I'm still amazed by this pole, one handed, with ease at 40ft. No walking it up the wall either. I lift mine from the ground at 35ft then just add sections as required.

I wouldn't dream of using one for domestic work (too much hassle, being modular) but over 35ft it's the dogs! ;)

 Hi
just done 45 foot office block, first job with sl2 superb!

The only downsize i can see is its durability i can see the joints wearing over time and it would be easy to smash it up. wont know for a year or two though.

however my ergolite was so much hassle by comparison i would gladly put up with that.

i also loved the ease of adjustment When dropping from 4th floor to 3rd floor just pulled a section off done!

The ergolite is ok if you do a couple of hours per month but if you work regularly over 30 feet sl2 is the baby.

One tip make sure you velcro the hose up as prescribed, we tried to shortcut this bit but didnt work as the weight of the hose dangling pulled the head about made it harder to control.

put the velcro on much better.

 cheers

  john

P.s. MY ergolite is for sale on classifieds, bit tired but works ok not as good as sl2 but i am only looking for offers near 250.

  cheers

  john

As users of modular poles could you please sort out a few queries please??

1: On a couple of big commercials we do some of the windows are in tight areas where I can imagine one length would be too long but one section less would be too short, so, how do you cope when just small adjustments are needed instead of full sections?

2: When you stand the pole against the wall how long does it take to chip female sections?

3: How do I avoid being stupid and leaving sections behind - I've left whole poles at jobs before today ;)

The lightness and stiffness looks good; I just need these few points clear in my head.

Cheers :)

1. you're stuck with it, there is no minor adjustment apart from moving backwards.
2. don't stand it against a wall.
3.you're stuck with that too I'm afraid, if you're stupid, you're stupid! ;D (all the sections come in a lovely holdall)

The sl2's biggest problem is it's lightness! not a bad problem to have though eh? each section weighs nowt & will blow away if you even sneeze at it! ;D

Well the adjustment aspect would stop me getting one all by it's self.

You have to lean the pole against the wall at times, to pull out more hose or whatever.

The stupid thing seems to get worse with age. I'm 42 now; by the time I'm fifty I'll need to follow the hose back just to find the van ;D

Gardners sell an adjustable but plug, it's cheap and a brilliant bit of kit to protect those female sections, it will fit all sections from no2 to base.
This but plug [for the want of a better name] has a silicon ring, just insert it into the section and tighten it up and the silcon ring expands till it fits.
If you use a lightweight swivel you can clean those awkward windows from the side, it gets over the problem with windows that are in between pole sections.

That's not a new thing, or even a Gardiners thing as we've been using them for our fishing poles for years.

It still wont make me any less stupid though :D

Sorry mls, I misunderstood you regarding leaning against the wall. I thought you meant each section as you take them off 8)

Each section comes with a base protection ring (rubber) fitted as standard, so yes, you can safely lean it against a wall at any length. ;)
