Im sorry, I had no Idea

Talking to one of the IJCSA members from London today. I found out it is not common for services to have a website. This to me is unbelivable with so may free simple areas that you can build a website, and do online advertising. Then when I took a look of the member roster here maybe 2 out of every 100 services have a website. Does everybody just pretty much use paper advertising? Leaflets and such, What is the average cost of doing your paper advertising per year? For example we use business cards and postcards that are mailed to customers and potential customers for our paper advertising. Not to much of a expense maybe $1000.00 a year. The Purity website that I have only cost $105.00 dollars a year. We generate almost 40% of our new customers from the website, all of our employee applications, all our specials etc.. Then instead of going door to door we send out emails and public announcements online? I have noticed though by doing a simple search on google for the London area, and Newcastle that maybe only 10-12 really big sites. Just my opinion but a website works for you 24 hours a day, never gets tired and will soon become the #1 source of revenue for any type of service. Also with todays technology you can direct the site with search paramaters to only focus on your designated area  :)

PS It would be cool if there was an area in the forum for cleaning technology and ways technology can improve your business. I have lots of posts and articles  that I can copy and paste then, just not sure where to put them :-\

Why not post a few idea's on this thread, I'm always looking for new ways to tap into growth..
Paper advertising is at the present the best way for me to promote my bussines as I work in a localised area but all my advertising promotes The web site as I use it as a full colour broucher.

I usually get around 200 hits per month how this converts to new bussines is unshure but it does promote a modern profeshional image to my customers, my next maketing project is to drop leaflets and then (using UK info) (a data base with Phone No's) to tele sale the area's droped.

I'd love to be able to develope my bussines by using the net as you say it works 24/7 and would be a very cost efective way forward

Alan just a note of warning on this method. If you intend to go down this line of advertising/marketing be aware of one thing.
It is illegal to cold call just anybody on the telephone in the UK now. You would need to make sure you also get a list of people who have specifically requested that that do not get called by telephone marketing etc....

Its called something like the Preferred callers register. Anyone can sign up to it to stop nuisance phone calls from the likes of double glazing salesmen etc..

Hope this info is useful

Thanks for that Lee never gave it a thought, I,m several weeks away from this option at the moment, but I,d like to think that if I can get it set up right it'll save a lot of doorknocking and as I prepay for my phone calls won't cost a lot, It also means that I can cover a larger area quicker.

I know double glazzing, Kitchens ect use this form of canvassing but they (as far as I'm aware) don't pre drop an area with flyers first, and as far as I aware I've never heard of windowcleaners canvassing this way.

I think if as we keep hearing that windowcleaning is evolving then I believe our methods of marketing have to evolve alongside.

Hope that "purity" put some food for though on this link.
