Hi Ben,

It does seem a bit negative , I was always taught to accentuate the positive in my sales literature.

I don't suppose this will make any difference to your leaflet campaign .

Ignore it.

Cheers,

Doug

So, by that I guess that the NCCA are calling all carpet cleaners, who are not a member of their organisation COWBOYS!!!

Guess that makes me a cowboy, even though I have attended courses at both Prochem AND the NCCA! and that the fact that I am attending the NCCA spot and stain next month still leaves me a cowboy in their eyes!

Nice one NCCA

Hi chris,

It seems to me although i'm a member of the NCCA that the NCCA are calling anybody who uses leaflets, whether they are a member of the NCCA or not, cowboys !!

I've been trading for a few months and as I missed the deadline for the yellow pages, leaflets are my only real option for advertising.  I thought being a member of the NCCA would help me and not hinder me !!

Sorry Ollie, that's the point that I tried to make but the mind was obviously somewhere else when typing.

So as an NCCA member are you allowed to leaflet then?  YP's just won't bring enough work in on its own and as a proffesional carpet cleaner I use a number of stratergies to drum up business so I guess I'll be donning the old stetson & boots in the morning to go and price the jobs that have come in from me leaflets

Ben

Are you sure you got the wording verbatim, smacks of libel. ???

When you say press release in what press or are they doing a leaflet drop. ;D

Hope you are on a windup.  ???

Chris

I know your not that should be good enough. ;D

Hi Ben

Like Len I have some concerns over the wording of the press release. Could you please let us know where you have seen it, so that it can be followed up.

paul,

this is part of the "vacuuming is not enough" release in july 05. Please correct me if i have the context wrong, but it seems pretty clear. I dont know where the press release was "released" or where they normally are.

I have nothing against the NCCA, Why else would i want to join, but feel this is a negative stance on the only current source of income for my business.

Be interested to hear your feedback,

Ben

Thank you Ben

I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly and also drawing it to my attention. I will be in touch with the office in the morning and report back to you. The wording does not seem right, as you quite rightly say many carpet cleaners use leaflets which is certainly not a problem.

Yes and what about members who for what ever reason (of their own) Paul, who opted not to continue with membership, are they/we all of a sudden cowboys ?

First of all, Be an emotionial sort of chap I was angry when I read the First Post,

That I Fired OFF.

I have now calmed down a bit and read  al the posts including Paul Pearces  comments

Gary,

I have read WEb site of new organization .

There are one or two clauses in  the wording I am not happy with.

For example why should carpet cleaners pay to join a trade organization.
Although in the early days it would be wrong to charge , But if an organization is going to achieve anything it would need some form of funding.

You have to have 3 years industry experience before you can join I think this is a positie idea but possibly too long,

And yes it does not mention other organizations as crediable cleaners
so it has fallen into same trap as the others.

I think it should, and I try to in my promotional material.

Garry are you in the NCCA?

When the main topic is deleted it makes it hard for others to follow what is going on!!! Why did you delete it?

Ian, no I am not a member of the NCCA, the only organisation I belong to is the FSB which cost just over £300  and is worth every penny.

I don't know why you think these organisations should be free, you end up with a bunch of amateur jobsworths who on the whole don't have much of a clue.

I'm waiting for the day when I can pay hundred's of pounds a year membership and get marketing help, tax help, employment help and a good professional service thats operated as a business and not from someones bedroom or garden shed.
If the benefits outweigh the outlay then I do believe that people would pay many hundreds of pounds or more a year to belong to such an organisation.

Hi Ben and all

Again thank you for drawing my attention to the press release. Sadly you are quite right there is a paragraph in the release as you stated in your original post. The statement has now been removed. The press releases have not been given out to the media as far as I am aware, they are downloadable for the members to use as they wish. All have been checked today for unwanted content. Hopefully we haven't missed anything else.Whilst this was honestly a glitch on out part, for which I apologise on behalf of the association.

I would also like to state that the NCCA do not agree with the comments that if you are not a member of the NCCA then you are considered a cowboy. at no time has this been so. We are all free to do as we wish and I am fully aware that there are many very good carpet & upholstery cleaners out there that don't belong and don't feel the need, it certainly does not make them bad cleaners. If like me you enjoy the industry you are in then that really is all that matters. Be happy in your work.

Again thank you & regards

Paul Pearce
