Thats a great site you posted there. Very useful indeed
Thanks Lee.
Just as a side point does anyone know of an insurance company that will transfer no claims bonus from a car(private) to a van(commercial).
I tried years ago to change from a mimi van to a car and had to restart no claims from new.
Any one out there drive a peugeot partner car? What's it like?
Hello.
I have found that site very useful too. It will make it much easier to make my choices when the day comes for a trade-in.
Regarding the insurance issue, you may want to try Direct Line. I don't think they actually let you take your bonus with you to a commercial policy. However, what they may do for you is to classify your van as a private motor vehicle that you use for business purposes (most insurance companies won't do this for vans). They allow this for some types of business but not others. Window cleaning is OK by them. I've been insuring my vans with them for some years on this basis. I even explained to them that my usage was around 85% commercial. They told me that if I was say, a sales rep, who they regard as rushing around to keep appointments then they would not allow it but they're fine with window cleaners. I know they are genuine with this too because I needed to make quite a hefty claim some while back and they got it repaired without a murmur (cost me £100 excess though
)
I don't know if they would view WFP equipment differently though as a fitted water tank could be regarded as more commercial than a ladder and bucket possibly.
