Pricing Help?
« on: September 23, 2010, 02:54:53 pm »
Hi All,

I'm new to the contract cleaning business...

I've been asked to quote to clean an offices shared carpeted entrance way and stairs once a month... Vacuuming, dusting etc... The entrance way is only about 10ft x 5ft and the stairs are just 15 standard sized carpeted steps. I would estimate an hour each visit, using our own equipment.

I'm just after some ideas on how to price it from you more experienced cleaning companies? :)

Are you able to help?

Thanks,
Andy

These can be tricky to price.

You will have to consider is it worth having such a small contract.

Will a member of staff be cleaning ?

Will it be you?

Can you leave products there like a vacuum cleaner and polish? If not then the cleaner you hire will need transport to carry the equipment.

Is it far from your location or other regular work?

If its only an hours work and once a month what would you pay?

We have several communal cleans that only take an hour and some only 30 minutes. Our minimum is £35.00 + vat but thats only because they are close to us and flexible.

Hope this gives you someidea. Some companies will not even consider these little jobs as they are of such low value.

Dave,

Thanks for your reply.

The contract in itself won't be worth much to us at all in money terms... But the owner of the office is a great contact, and it will lead to other work, maybe the whole office clean when the contract comes up for renewal... So I definitely think it's worth having.

When you say your minimum is £35 +VAT, is that per visit, or per month for a contract?

Thanks,
Andy

Thats per visit on a job thats only 1 hour a month.

If you think it will lead to other work, go for it. Best way to grow. Larg companies go in cheap, work on volume and then increase the price on the 2nd year.

I will add here on office cleaning prices vary on regular work depending on size, frequency, location so can be from £8.50 per hour to £17.00. per hour.

Once a month visits minimum of £35.00 weekly vistits x 4 to 5 visits £25.00 per visit
