Lost a customer 3 years on...
« on: September 21, 2010, 02:22:08 pm »
I lost a customer due to water fed pole today after having done them for him that way for 3 years!
In fact he's never had them done any other way.

Him: so you don't dry them off now?
Me: no, never have done. It's always been fine hasn't it?
Him: well yes, but it's not finished. My old window cleaner was very meticulous.
Me: so am I!
Him: its not proper window cleaning I'll get someone else then
Me: good luck with that!

I had a customer the other day query me using WFP when I've done it that way on her windows for years...

Her: My friends window cleaner gets into the corners better using a squeegee; can you do it that way?
Me: No, I use WFP, it's been fine for the last few years hasn’t it?
Her: Yes, but my friend said you can get into the corners better using a squeegee.
Me: That's not really true, I use WFP - squeegee for inside work only.
Her: Also, a lot of birds keep dying after you've been because they fly into the windows!
Me: That's because I do such a good job with WFP. See you in 8 weeks :)

Some customers! I think I might drop her, more hassle than its worth!

He'll have a job finding a traditional window cleaner around here.
I look forward to doing his 2 neighbour's windows next time and seeing his dirty windows.

I only hope he doesn't find a good trad cleaner and tell his neighbours.
They're the sort who would change back given the chance. I actually squeegee the downstairs off on one of them just in case. :-\
Wouldn't care, but they are good jobs.

Get this one then, someone started the whole, "dont like the pole system bla bla bla"

This house is massive and accessable to most windows with baclonies with steps etc, so i said look, ill do the ones i cant reach off the ground with the pole and do the rest by hand. "Oh youd really do that?" Yeh no problem.

Im not usually like that but this customers ok...so ok 3 months doing ones i can reach by hand etc, he was out everytime left envelope, went last time he was in. Did them and said alright bla bla you ok etc, are you happier now?

"yes is that a new brush? Im very impressed with that one"

WHATTTTTTTTTTTT he was talking about the pole system brush!! and how good it was...some people baffle me

had one a few weeks ago after doing them wfp for 1.5 years she says well i wasnt happy with the last clean.
i say o ok sorry to hear that what was the problem
she say well it only took you 15 mins it use to take half hour
i say oook was you happy with the standard of the clean
she say o yes very good and the frames are lovley too
i then go on to explane how wfp is better (in my opinion tradders) and how it costs more but is quicker etc etc even though ive explaned it all before

Don't customers just do your nut in. Be a great job if we never had to deal with them.

I think we have all had this. I had one recently. Been cleaning her for years and this time she decides she doesn't like me leaving it wet.

On the subject of getting into the corners I say this is like a giant toothbrush, it gets into every little corner much better.

I like that! I'm going look for opportunities to use it in conversation, it's so good!  ;D

Is that not a bit of a mixed message Squeeky?

I understand why you do it but if wfp is ideal for the top windows etc why not the bottoms, if you are not 100% convinced how do you expect the customer to be?

I'm perfectly convinced, but they're not. Just shutting up potentially awkward customer.
