Question for car valets / cleaners
« on: September 20, 2010, 09:29:06 pm »
Hey,

My wife has just had a new mini and as you can see from the picture, its covered in stickers on every side, even the roof has a sticker on it !

Now being brand new, we want to keep it in the best condition possible. Whats the best way of cleaning / polishing it so we ( I ) dont damage the stickers ? I'd be hung, drawn and quartered if i damaged it in any way. I've only been allowed to drive it for two short trips to school and back in the past two weeks.

- how to clean
- how to polish
- what products
- what kit to clean

Cheers, JP

I'm no valeter but def keep at least a mile away from anything solvent based ;D

Oh, in a previous life our valeters used to use Autoglym products. You could always give them a call or drop them an email showing them a photo.

Clean it as you would your normal car...

Use a wash mitt and two bucket method ....

I would however avoid any glue and tar removers or anything solvent based , it might be an idea to get the car professionally valeted/protected by a valeter/detailer in your area to help you maintain the car and make it easier on yourself.

The said valeter will also be able to give you some advice and what not.

Where are you from ?

hi mate, you wont damage the stickers so dont worry about anything. if you use tar and glue remover then get it off quickly before it does damage  if the stickers are vinyl but you can use it. look for a concept chemicals supplier in your area and use 'vision' polish, vista for the plastics, contour for the tyre dressing and any other products made for the areas you want to sort on your car, dont waste your time on autoglym its poope they just market it well.
