« on: September 19, 2010, 01:22:46 pm »
well, after 10 yrs am thinking of calling it a day, absolutely sick and tired of working hard and the custys just thinking they can pay me when they want, don,t get me wrong,i knew the job would entale not getting paid but now i,m going collecting 5 or 6 times and still not getting paid, the last 12 months as been a nightmare, the ironic thing is,it,l probably be the bad payers that are the first to moan when i pack in..back to being an employee for me(UGGGHHH).rant over.atb

If you do jack it in, make sure you sell the round; don't just give it up like a bloke near me.  Very competent WFPer and he's just upped sticks and left - I'd have bought his round, the duffer.

if thats the only thing that makes you want to pack it in re the late payers buggering you about then replace them with new ones - or ask them if they have a preferred payment method and see if that makes  diff?

Think long and hard about jacking in .... do u really want to work for someone else in potentialy a job u may end up loathing ?

How about half way comprimise ..... bin the bad customers keep the good payers and get a part time job .. rebuild round with some proper customers whilst working part time then u can sack the paye job and have a decent round again.

Just seems a shame that some duff customers may see you close ur business ??

They pay late because you let them make a point that payments need to be made within 7 days offer different payment methods like paypal ect and let them know that paying the bill late may result in them being dropped from your books don't take the crap from late payers your a business note a charity.

Hang in their don't give up just have a sort out drop the bad payers, what i do is i have lots of my customers email addresses and each night i send them a paypal invoice easy 8)

although its a drag, this collecting lark ,EVERY job in the world has something thats a chore, whether its a colleague that bugs you or a customer who is never happy . when i clean i leave a note telling them to leave the money under the rear doormat for about2 days time -this works well  for me  ;)

hi

the fee for a £9 payment is about 50p which is cheaper than driving around collecting, some people have a payment button on their website but i like to send my customers a invoice this way i can add a note to the invoice stating that they need to pay within 7 days and i also let them know when the next clean is due all my customers pay with 4-5 days  ;D

when you say you have to go collecting 5-6 times  ?   how about calling your customers up before you come and clean and get them to leave payment out for you.

its what myself and more and more window cleaners are doing and it works fine both ways .

i dont understand mate!if you ve been window cleaning for 10 years you must have a main core of good paying custies?

i clean no more than twice before getting paid.a lot pay me when i clean or by sae.im giving the option of bank transfer now.then i get a lot collecting once.a few even pay me in advance.of course i get the odd late payers but not very many really.

i love my business most of the time and would be gutted if i had to work for somebody else in a "proper" job!!! ;D ;D

This is what i do, but for most custys i blanket text a message template that reads...

"window cleaner...your booked in tomorrow! please leave access to all windows and payment in arranged place! thanks george"

this works a treat i very rarely go collecting if at all!

i get 300 free text a month with 02 network too!

I don't have bad payers, just ex customers who used to be bad payers. You are letting them walk all over you. Take control.
