Definately the 25th, every time.

If I so much as turn up 2 days early they're not happy.
In fact, if I turn up on time!
They're so used to me being about 5 weeks usually. :D

Very few people expect you on a certain day anyway.
I just get to them when I get to them. ::)

Doubt they'll have it done that early mate, and then you've wasted time...

Roger.

Gaza,

We would go again on or after the 25th too  !!

Most of our customers know the dates have to be flexible especially during the autumn/winter months.  If we are later thn usual we just tell them we wer rained off for X days and that people are done in rotation hence the delay.

Sarill

Most domestics aren't bothered if I'm a bit late, but if I'm early they soon grumble.
Some expect me to be really punctual, get on my nerves, never happy, but most I train to expect me on or soon after 4 weeks from last visit.  If they're good payers I might give them a bell just to let them know I'm running late, buy myself a bit of time.
Commercial, I'm rarely late.

I usually tell my customers i'll see them again in the next 4 to 6 weeks depending on the weather or if i am delayed due to anything unforseen.
Nine times out of ten i call back in four weeks usually the same day if i can.
They all seem happy with that.

I generally tell my customers I will call about once a month.

This usually gives a bit of leeway for the weather.

I actually got my round caught up the other week. First time in about two years. One customer was so confused to see me. As i Was talking to him at his door he said he likes to know when I am coming so he can make sure he is in ::). He seemed a bit perturbed that he had not had to call me to see when I would next be round

NO SARILL!!

Don't get him started!!!

It took us ages to calm him down the last time he told us all about it :o

Check out his back posts, Gaza had a real bad time with him, but we don't mention it on account of his blood pressure ;D

Thanks for the warning Ian.

I obviously touched on a sensitive topic just because my nosey nature got the better of me again !!!!!

Only joined in July so will have to go back over some old threads to get the full story.

Background:  I take a few payments by monthly standing order, therefore I have to clean the bulk of my customers once a calendar month, so my standing order lot can slip in with the rest of my round.

Also, I have two days worth of work in an army married quarter area.  I like to get to these on the first working day of a new month, as they're all paid at the end of the month.  Wait too long and they're skint.  (Ian, you won't have that problem with the officers; but they will expect a salute and for you to call them 'Sir' or 'Ma'am'!)

I also do a smallish hotel at the end of each month, but didn't do them last at the correct time last month; we did them on the 7th; but I will still be doing them again at the end of this month.

Now, I'm around 4 days behind on my round (it was about 7 days - but we/I have been grafting).

But to rectify my 'lateness', I'm going to have to clean a portion of my customers 'early'.

If any of them complain, I'll tell them what I've just told you.  They get one clean each calander month; apart from a small number who I hope don't notice that I've cleaned them twice in one calander month!!!  But it'll still work out as 12 cleans per year.

Hopefully; anyway; as Wor Lass twisted her ankle last night during a training run and I reckon she'll be off work for at least a week.  I wasn't happy about that at all.  She wasn't impressed with my less-that-sympathetic attitude either mind, but hey, I'm the one that'll be busting-a-gut, while she's watching Opra, or whatever they show on daytime TV.

Anyway, the long and the short of it is I don't think getting paid by Standing Order is that good.  I should have listened to Roy Harding.  He did try to warn me.

Thank you for reading my whine.

I feel much better.

i do mine every 4 weeks.
i print out a few sheets of A4 paper with loads of these messages printed on them

                 WINDOW CLEANER

Im due again on the …………………….

                   cheers Alan
      tel:XXXXXXXXXXX or XXXXXXXXXXX

i find it works really well, my customers like it, coz they know when i will be calling, and if n e of them will not be in that day, they phone and let me know so we can make a diferent day or time.

dont let the customer call the tunes it is your business ,and myself dont want customers interfering with my home time and my route

I tel my customers (clients) normally every 4 weeks but I may run behind from time to time but I'm like a headache you get one when you least expect it

Normaly I get more problems if I appear on time  as they still can't get the hang of 4 weeks ( they think it means once a month)

Had a right set to with an old fella once, he stormed out and told me that he wanted his windows cleaned every 4 weeks not three ( what he'd done was mark the Date on his calander and acording to the Date I was early in fact I was on time) any way I sacked him, can't argue with old timers that are always right.

The secret is not doing as you like but liking what you do

If I'm late getting there then that time is lost forever in my book as it would be unreasonable to leave too short a gap between cleans.  I do go 2 days early sometimes when I'm in front but no more than that.  As I do a 6 weekly turnaround, I reckon that's OK.
