VINYL FLOOR CLEANING
« on: September 06, 2010, 05:04:51 pm »
Hi

I have a vinyl floor that needs cleaning. All client knows is that it is vinyl, and has no idea if it has ever been sealed before. Anyone have any advice on cleaning process/chemicals.

Many thanks

Dan

The obvious answer is to strip, neutralise and reseal.

The problem is that it may be Forbo Marmoleum which may have been abused over years and years. Stripping here is not recommended as it will open it up to much and may result in a ruined floor. Forbo have a great website and even better technical dept so take a pic and send them an email.

Failing that the do try and find out manufacturer and type. If you 100% can't then it depends on whether you are desperate and willing to take a chance.

One last point, double check prior to leaving that the floor has not been left susceptible to becoming slippery, including due to spillages.
