I'd only use a dry scrim for one day usually, but I have been known to give one a quick swill under a tap and dry it out, that's enough to get the dust off.

Most people here probably get through a few a day though.

I use heavy duty scrim prewashed from my local supplier, but they do need a few more washes,in the washing machine no liquid or powder,i use them dry to wipe round after pad and blade, and i wash them everyday,i usually use 2 or 3 aday as i use wfp so no need to do much scrim work,Gaz.

Hi,

Wipe window with damp cloth or spray window cleaner, use dry scrim to buff to a shine. REMEMER...... never use soap with this method, only window spray or tap water as soap will smear window.

I must have at least 30 scrims in the van and I just switched to WFP [top only]
I cleaned windows back in the 1950's. the best way to use scim as a polishing cloth is perfectly clean and damp. If your just detailing then clean and dry will do,but clean is the important thing. If your detailing with a dirty scrim you will think you are leaving a perfect job till you go back later and see a dirty line on the bottom of the pane. Dai

Right pain getting good scrim these days.  Boil first, no soap.  Once in use, I wash almost every day, once soaked through.  No soap though, enough impregnated from the day.  Scrim becomes really useful when it's about 6 months old.  I keep them dry as a bone to clean up with, gradually they get wet, end of that one for the day, get another dry one out. etc.

Hi  The Cleaner Service

Interesting that you boil a new one. I've said that everytime we buy new scrim.

Also, the same as you, I add no soap when I wash them.

I used to wash them almost everynight also but laziness got the better of me and now I'll only wash either scrim or microfibre when they're really filthy and I've found it hasn't made any difference untill they are almost black with dirt.

Lately, for going around the frames I've been using a wet scrim. One that has been rinsed in the bucket and wrung out. That seems to work better than one that is either dry or a bit damp.

For the glass edges I use a dry or dryish microfibre.

Cheers
