Hi guys,
had a call today from a customer saying that someone rang him earlier on using my name, ie bens carpet and upholstery cleaning, and touting for business. They asked him if he needed any carpets cleaning and when he said no they hung up. The chap smelled a rat somehow and rang my number as their number was barred.
when he told me what happened i was shocked but thanked him for contacting me and letting me know. I,m trading standards approved and am not supposed to cold call.
These people could do alot of damage to my business and is very worrying.
Has anyone else experienced this if so what can you do ?

Let trading standard know for a kick-off.   But it may also be possible to report this to the Police as these people are fraudulantly using someone else's name.   Not sure if that would be a civil or criminal offence.  I'd be worried too.   Maybe speak to a solicitor.

John - (sorry for the thread hijack)... just seen you work N.Tyneside.  I've been getting a lot of enquiries lately, mainly for Blyth and nowhere to send them.  See my post in the 'Cleaning Contracts' section if you're interested in some referreals.

I have one waiting to refer now!  Shout up if interested and I'll give this guy (and all future ones) your number.

First thing I'd do is report to the police, then I'd go to trading standards and then I'd do is ring local newspapers and radio stations , tell them what is happening; they get a story and cover yourself and gets some free marketing!

John : i,m part of the buy with confidence scheme. Its been great advertising so far giving 1st time customers peace of mind. Contact your local trading standards for more info.
David : yes i contacted trading standards and they logged it but not much they can do at this point.

Maybe i'll call the local paper as suggested........

Needed to get back to the custy last night so someone recommended Ramsey's so referred him there, but next ones yours.....        I had two lasy week as well (1 x Blyth, and 1 x Guide Post) so hopefully will have some more for you soon.
