quick release seals melting using hot box
« on: August 21, 2010, 08:30:33 am »
i used my hot box for the first time and my selas melted in the quick release couplers on my hoses 4 times. i had my powertech250 on 3/4 bore on the throttle but this must be to hot. later i ran the machine on full bore. i dont have a temp gauge. what temp does chewy lift?  has anyone else had their seals melting?

The seals will melt as you need special high temp seals (not sure which ones) as i don't use quick release connections when using steam!!! I unscrew the connector and then screw the lance straight on to the hose (I have a lance that i use just for steam cleaning)

Hope this helps ;)

I have removed chewy at 80 degrees, but its not quick enough. It was just on Tarmac, so i couldnt use high temperatures.

check to see how worn the male part of the connector is if this has become worn then even with viton seals they wont last long.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt
