ncca membership
« on: September 12, 2005, 09:12:36 am »
is the training courses offered by ncca any better than the prochem ones, and is it worth joining as a member, i have plenty of experience in carpet cleaning but i wish to become more proficient in what i do, i only have hands on experience and feel that proffesional theory training may be beneficial.  it is a bit pricy to do course and become member, money is tight and i wish to spend my money wisely.  Please advise....

Thanks guys

Ian

If  Money is tight, invest in leaflets and distribution

Get some bussiness when you hit xxxx a month invest in NCCA and all the rest.

If you need practical info try to find a friendly Carpet Cleaner.

Yanster

if it is one or the other then my experience is Prochem's 2 day course at Chessington - excellent course, I found it to be better than the NCCA.

NCCA training is more theory based so in your position may be more beneficial as youve already had some practical experience.  prochem training is excellant but more practical.

NCCA membership is highly recommended as it will make you money if you sell yourself correctly.

Training will give you the confidence and ability to kick start your business and put your prices up.

Dont wait any longer.

remember all training will help you clean carpets better, but if you can talk about what you are doing and why to your customer then you will get more jobs.

Knowledge is power especially when you are cleaning on the domestic front, customers will think 'he knows waht he's on about I'll pick him'

Hi Guys,

I think it is really dissapointing that we do not have a dynamic organisation to represent the industry.

We have done the NCCA debate  several times and I strongly believe the growth of these internet boards have created a wonderful oppurtunity to build a dynamic , forward thinking trade body.

The silence from the NCCA however is deafenning  .

There are lots of quality CC's around but sadly most are outside the NCCA which doesn't seem able ,  or willing to grab the chance to get the movers and shakers on board.

Cheers,

Doug

Fibre,

I believe the industry would be best served by one strong organisation , rather than several faddish ones.

However there is currently a vacuum and this will inevitably be filled by other organisations.

More later,

cheers,

Doug

Fibre,

I feel there is a vacuum ,  where the aspirations of the industry to have a higher profile and be represented by a trade body are not being met.

It is easy to be critical of the NCCA and something I try to avoid but for example in our recently received local YP , ignoring the NCCA paid for advetisment(3 People),  there are 40 paid for adds and of these 4 display the NCCA logo and 4 Proclean.

So 10% of carpet cleaners who advertise in my local YP , advertise being members of the NCCA.

It is hardly suprising that The NCCA profile is so low that i have been asked if i am a member once in 25 years.

The point I have made several times is that prior to the wider use of the internet ,  there was an inevitability about this BUT now a much higher profile could be achieved if a different mind set was adopted.

Cheers,

Doug

Point taken, i do not belong to any organization i was approached by master craftsman but i did not like the way you gained entry.
Being in the industry now for 13 years i have never been asked if i am a member of any trade organization  be it domestic or commercial.  I believe if you do a very good job there is no problems.

http://ukcarpetcleaners.com/_wsn/page3.html Wow I really like this site alot. I would like to link this site from our UK Members, and in regards to an association representing the UK we at IJCSA would be honored, maybe we can work out a free year membership swap or a IJCSA link exchange on members websites.

Kevin,

I have quickly read details of your organization.

I have no idea about the quality of your teaining material but think the idea of an online training resource is an excellent idea,

How do you stop people cheating when they do an online exam?

Its a time locked exam. The website tracks the IP Address, our members are forbidden to enter the forum for information during the time format, and thats where the training material is located. Almost 50% off the questions are written essay. If a member does not pass the exam, and retakes it the questions are shuffled. No exam is foolproof, but its pretty hard to cheat on this one. :) We also follow up with an oral 20 question confirmation

The only reason i am rejoining this year is because the logo looks good on my leaflets. Customers are reasurred by trade organisations, even if they dont know what they are in some cases.

Reading this post and others the NCCA sounds like an orginization in the US called BSCAI, they promise the world. Ill tell you from personal experience owning a Janitorial service, and also operating an Association it is really not about customers finding you in an Association or relating you to an Association. Never once when submitting a bid, did the customer say are you part of an association. Its about members together getting benefits and group buying power. Its also exciting meeting new people to have get togethers, training seminars ,confrences and such. I took a look at the website, the number way to sell memberships is to call everyone that is not a member wrong, and not a good company to deal with or in this case a Cowboy.  In my opinion I  would like too see them concentrate more on getting members discounts, its amazing their are not to many major corporations on their giving the members a discount on products or services. They have lots of space on that website for corporate sponsors, they give free advertising in return for discounts the members can actually use. It would be nice if the members could see the benefit of being a member daily, by the extra cash they save on supplies and equipment.

I noticed on The Web Site that there is an AGM on 10th of November.

It appears non members can attend the day which looks interesting but not The AGM.

Has this been announced and I missed it?

I cant find any mention in our Events sectiom.
