New Build Cleans!
« on: September 10, 2005, 03:52:53 pm »
Iv'e just taken over another W/Cs round.(all legal)

I did two new houses (outside only) the cleaner's who have given me the contract said if there is any protective tape around the frames just peel it off.

This was no problem at all but it left another sticker on the frame like a paper one with a heavy sticky backing which was a nightmare to get off-----i soaked them with water tried to scrape them off with my nails--bit's of paper were coming off but still was'nt a very good job.

Does anyone out there have the solution to get these paper sticker's off.

Any help will as usual be appreciated.

Regards Ray.

Not keen on the smell myself

I dont know how I came across this but I use to do initial cleans (everything from windows to bathrooms and kitchen) on new houses. I found that good old furniture polish was great for dissolving adhesive especially on PVC frames. Just spray on soak for a moment or two then use an old scrim to rub off.
For the price of a can of polish its worth a try

I saw that how clean is your house show once ( honest ) and they reckon to get stickers of fridges/freezers the best stuff is WD40, might be worth a try.

I like that. Just peel it off. Some people have no idea. I did a job like that once many years ago and it was only on one window. The customer didnt pay me what I asked because she didnt think it took so lng. (she wasnt there when I did the clean) I never went back to her. It is really down to the company that put the glazing in to get ride of the tape.
