RO tds 100 then 12 a question!
« on: August 06, 2010, 05:35:57 pm »
I have just checked my tds reading when I turned on the tap the initial reading was 100  then checked 2-3 min later down to 35 then again 2-3 min then to 12 stayed at 12 so then conected to di. Is it normal for the intial reading to be high when 1st turning the system on?  ???

Mine always is, but not that high.  If yours settles down to 12 and stays there then I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks all,  I have never checked before but will now let the tds settle down before connecting to the di. Lesson learnt! Hard water area.

Its called TDS creep, and happens every time you first run water through the system once it has been turned off.  Not usually such a big difference but will depend on water hardness, system, pressure, etc etc.  Best to flush or leave the pipe to the DI disconnected for a few minutes each time you turn the water on.

if you dont follow this advice it will cost you in resin quite alot if your in high tds areas, south east is high.:

My tds when turning on can be over 500 tds, 4/5 mins in flush with di connection in drain brings down to 6. re connect di then fill away.

If your not willing to learn, No one can help you, If you are determined to learn, No one can stop you ;)

Yes a very good lesson learnt with this, i am guessing it took in total about 10 mins to settle down. thanks again for the advice.
