Ste If he goes in at £300, he really needs to hire a guttervac, it will be so much quicker.
race around the gutters for £300, then whatever the windows are.
I Charge the amount I do as I do a thorough clean and I give the customers a DVD of the video of before and after the clean, mostly for proof that I have cleaned them and secondly they can use it for proof if they need to claim on their buildings insurance if anything happens to the guttering.
It is really down to what you are happy working for, I personally am too much of a perfectionist (which i have been told is my downfall)

Matt, what kit do you have to clean gutters? And if you don't mind, how much does it cost to get set up to do gutters. I have sl2 sections already.

Mark I don't mind helping you out on this job mate. that way you can try out the polar vak etc.
Richy does have a point though, the roof is very steep and it does appear to have moss on the roof.
If you want me to help you out on this job or even survey the gutters for you, you can email me.

Yes thanks for the offer matt.
I've had a peek and while there is debris in places, they are mostly clear. Out of the 640 metres of gutters, there is probably 100 - 150 metres max of patchy debris.
The gardeners have been up a couple of times in the past and cleared blockages.
I'm in lowestoft, suffolk.

If you are sure about the amount of guttering that needs clearing, I would say no more than £200, then what ever the windows would be.

Matt

Thanks for that matt. I had in mind a bit more cos i'll have someone foot the ladder this time. I think a days work would do it. Am just unsure of how many hours that day is going to be.
Thanks for your help.

£3:00 per metre and £20:00 for each blocked downspout
If customer only wishes to pay per area that needs cleaning we would perform camera survey and mark areas to be cleaned with chalk either on the walkway or on the wall.
I Would charge £100 for the survey

Billy

Jeez, some of the prices going around are silly, £300 for 640 metres of guttering?
I would be using a guttervac and I would be wanting atleast £500 if not £650 for the gutters.
I charge approximately £100 just to clear gutters on a 3 bed semi!

I was asked to price up a reasonably large property today regarding just emptying clearing the gutters.

My usual rate for that is £3.50 a metre.

Ive seen people quoting up to £5.00 a metre for the same type of work which IMO is bizarre.  To me just totally over the top, they must be so slow if they cant make a decent wage on less than that.

Anyway, I paced this place out today, it came to 78 metres. At £3.50 a metre that would have been £270.00. I knew just looking at it it wasn't going to be more than 3 hours work tops! I make good money but would find it hard to turn up at a job at nine in the morning and bugger of at midday approaching being £300 better off.

I would feel ripped off if I was the custard. And I dont like my custards to feel that way about me.

Mark, Id go in at personally, using an extending sweep/scoop which you can use at to increase your reach , so each ladder movement clears approx 15-20 feet a time.

Use a rojak or rubber matting.

Dont forget 640 metres is over half a kilometre, I think £1,000 is reasonable.

Good luck.

Matt

Priced and cleaned 300 metres of gutters at £3 PER M, took us 2 days with gutter vac, had to empty vac around 18 times over the duration of this job,
Picked this job up after someone planned to scaffold and quoted 22K............Couldnt believe it

On the day we carried out this work we were filmed by various Housing associations and local authoritys
We have another job schedule next week 100 m of jungle in these gutters we have had to allow for cherry picker as the gutter vac will struggle to clear some of the plant life, quoted 1300 for this job due to picker hire.
We have 10 jobs in the pipeline over the next few weeks - all with the gutter vac.
Cant believe that ladders would be allowed on a site like this.... we have had to registered for Chas and have a waste licence - but should be getting plenty of work in this field

Does the polar vac hose have to go up the outside of a pole or can you attach to the bottom of a pole i.e sl2?

What do you empty the rubbish into each time its full?

Gutterman what system do you use....

even if its clear in places,i would rake every single inch ,even the totally clean sections ,   not only will this sound good to the customer but it will be easier to estimate how long it will take.

Well for better or worse i've put a quote in.

I don't know if i will hear anything?

Matt or whoever, what do you think of this one?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160463292542&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT#ht_777wt_1139

I'm thinking about getting into this.  Do you have a minimum price or minimum length of gutter you will do?

Thanks.
