In west london i can earn £20ph working trad, is this the going rate for the london area or should i be turning over more, i work alone sometimes.

its how long is a piece of string ?

how fast do you work? how do you price, what size houses etc

you may have low overheads and be able to live quite comfortably on that, also what demographic are your customers, what competition do you have?

but i would reckon you could probably get too £25 an hour quite easily, ie price rise, some new better priced work, and refine your techniques a bit are all possible in order to boost earnings.

i take you are unsatisfied with £20 ph ??

Thanks for the reply Sean, i am happy enough with £20ph i suppose, it is just that i would like to optmise my  earning potential if possible.
I have read about london window cleaners who earn in the region of £30 to £40ph but then again maybe they are WFP.

i live south east london/kent and due to what other cleaners are charging my target hourly rate is 30-40 per hour.  i just done a first clean on one house this morning it will take me about 15 minutes to clean and im charging £9 every 6 weeks.

I would say in Ealing, you got to be aiming for 30-40.
Obviously depends on your overheads and how much you need to live on, but I think you could raise the bar at least little bit.

I think so too.
I know it's not too cool to say too much about earnings on a forum, but as others have hinted, you are selling yourself short.  I'm in the southeast but well outside London but I would price higher than what you've stated.

if iwas was living in london i would expect to earn at least £250 per day trad

Crawley.  My kit is based across the county border in Smallfield though.  I decided that filtering at home was too much hassle as I'm in a flat.

per hour must be difficult to guage every hour / day is different different locations different houses numbers of windows access condition the variables go on
ie one day you may only earn 100 next three 200 because of some of the above
its easier to getter a better idea of your earnings over the frequency of cleans on your round ie over a period of 4 weeks divided the  total amount earned by the number of days worked
if you happy with that figure good on you if not either your rate needs to be looked at or the volume of your work needs to increase

20 quid a hour seems a good earner if thats constant  160 day for 8 hours 800 a week 3200 a month almost 40 g a year a bit of creative accounting and thats in your pocket
