you have a di best thing to do is flush your  RO for 30mins without water going to storage tank then run normally for 10 mins then check tds the guy you bought of may not have run it for a few days so the tds will be up this should take your tds down to 000ppm

He may have changed the filters (they are cheap) but the membranes could be shot (expensive) so if the ro is more than two years old I would say there is a good chance you'll need new membranes soon.

Thats about what i thought youd say!
so as i look at the filters would it be the one the other side of the booster pump?
can i tell by looking if it is worn out?

the membranes are on the top of the unit, and you cant tell if they are knackered by looking at them. test the product water coming out of each membrane individually to see what tds each one is producing, as it may only be one of them no good.

the 3 on the bottom are pre filters, change them about every 4-6 months, and the 3 horizontal ones on top are the membranes.

Yep the vertical  ones are the cheap ones that protect the membranes usually changed every six months. membranes should last a couple of years and get the tds down to single figures.
