Hi John - same as Shawn except I have 30 feet powerpole - I used to do a bit of scaffolding so it was good preparation ;D
I cannot compare it to fibre glass etc and other makes but it is very good and robust though I did pay over the odds for it £485
nevertheless if its still there in a couple of years it wont seem so much

I was looking for a system to clean guttering and down pipes
what powers the water system and how much do you need to spend to get a system to work at 36ft.

sorry if i sound like i do not know what i am on about i had a look on the omnipole web site but if does not say if it just conects to a tap/hose pipe or if you need filters /generators/pure water etc.

I have just got a contract to do 50 builders cleans and it says
i must clean guttering and some are town houses.

W've just gone over to WFP and bought an Ionics pole for about £200.

What's the difference between that and a power pole?

Also, we do gutter, facia's and all that with a jet wash attached to a standard Unger pole. I don't quite see how that all fits in with the above and a power pole.

Maybe I'm a bit thick when it comes to this but surely a jet wash is easiest and quickest?

Thanks and cheers

For the facia's and the outside of the guttering it's simple.

We use an ordinary jet spray. We cut the barrel in half and attached a more than adequate length of flexible pressure pipe in between with jubilee clips.

The spray end goes at the end of the pole (attached with anything suitable - we use zip ties and then cut them off when we're done) and the trigger is attached at the other end.

The power supply is either the customers mains or we use a large camping battery and a suitable inverter (from Maplins) than goes in the car cigarette lighter and converts the voltage from 12 volts to 240.

To use, we lengthen the pole so as one end is on the ground and the other is a few inches from the facia or the gutter. The reason for than is just try and hold it up in the air and spray the facia's. Your arms will be done in in 5 minutes but by resting it on the ground, there's no real weight but it's still hard work.

The water supply is from an outside tap.

You also need a decent long (100m) hose pipe and mains extension lead.

With actually getting all the muck out the gutters, I've yet to find a quicker way than a ladder, a bin liner tied to it and doing it by hand. I'd also really welcome any idea's on an easier way.

Jet spraying it out leaves a ton of mess down the walls and windows and a big clean up job on the ground.

As for trying it WFP way - we don't know because we havn't a clue how to do that because it seems to take more water than we can at present carry (250 ltrs).

Maybe someone else can explain that because I'd also be interest to know as with jet washing - you get a bit wet. Fine in summer but in winter it's hell.

Cheers

Cheers and a big cheers Paul

I saw that in a something that was sent to a friend about a year ago.

I never could find it again despite tons of searching on the net and my friend threw the catalogue away.

Northern Tools.

Odd how it comes to mind after a reminder.

Thanks again. I will be test driving them soon and will report back.

No problem

I have that lance there but not that gutter cleaning attachment.
I have one of those bendy attachments where you bend to shape you need.
I am going to order that gutter attachment now as they look a bit more rigid and dirt cheap.
Only got there catalogue through a couple of days ago and see it in there.

Hi all I think Paul has got the right idea I think most people are just using tap water for cladding, fascia and gutter cleaning why waste the pure water that costs money.  Iam also wondering whether the power poles are worth the extra when you can mackle up a window pole .

I think they would be an investment,
I like the trigger at the end of the pole and the fact that you can buy add on bits,
lets face it for the price a couple of little cleans and its paid for.
