Gav,

is that the same as a relay ?

reason I ask as it has cost me over 5k to fix mine, everything is new apart from the number plate and body.

works ok now though althought the fuel gague yesterday was telling me I had 5000 revs left of fuel  ;D

Just out of interest, how did the fan belt snapping take out the cam belt??

Usually it is the pullies on the cam belt that go and once the cam belt goes that is curtains for that engine. Are you sure the garage got it right in the first place?

What does the service log say about the cam belts last change as these are really important to do as soon as you get the van if you have no record.

My van died in similar fashion last month so you have my full sympathy, plus my van wasn't worth the cost of repair according to my garage.

How much has it cost so far?

how old and how many miles has it done mate?

Was going down the M23 last night a pigeon flew across in front of the car made a thud thought nothing of it, after a mile down the road i could still see feathers in the rear view mirror, stopped to have a look to find the the grill stoved in and a pigeon stuck on the radiator, need a quote for new grill and radiator as leaking water :(
I will stick a picture on later

the day before i just picked up the renault master from the garage for a recon alternator and a bill for £450 >:(

sometimes a fan belt shreds up and slips behind the bottom pulley and into the cambelt area ,then messes up the cambelt. i used to be a mechanic and i NEVER  miss doing those type of jobs now im a window cleaner . in fact i remember most workshops steered well clear of any french engine that had gone BANG  due to the crazy cost of fixing them . Even just slipping in a whole secondhand engine is fraught with danger as the immobilizer systems on modern stuff are linked into the engine and a "brain" to match the engine can often not be found
