WFP Help needed
« on: September 05, 2005, 01:46:55 am »
Hi all, this is my first post (nice site!!)

I want to build a wfp system for my contract work, but need pointed in the right direction.

I have found lots of relly cheep suppliers for the equipment but not really sure what I all need.

I already have a water tank, pump and hoses, but not sure if I need to buy a DI system or RO system or both  ??? ::)

Can some one please help as I dont want to be spending all my hard earned cash if I dont need to.

PS I live in scotland which Im told is a soft water area.

Cheers
Dave ;)

Hi Dave,

If you live in a soft water area, you can get away with just using a DI bottle, however, you may use alot of resin. For the additional cost of an RO Unit, it will pay for itself, because you will save on your resin usuage. So in my opinion, i would use both.

Hi Dave , welcome , i have just gone to wfp myself , the first thing i would do in your shoes is find out the TDS reading of the water you will be using , you will be able to come to your best option from that , my TDS is 100 and i only use DI this means that 1 bag of resin will treat 5000 L of water {roughly} .
If i use 250 L per day , its about 1 bag a month , some will say thats too much money , but i have thought about the RO and it wouldnt really benefit me at the mo cos im on a water meter , by the time an RO has drained off the waste , i would be paying as much for my water charges as i am currently spending on resin .
At the end of the day , what you need to look at is things like i have before you spend your money , if your not on a meter then RO is the best way to go , it will save you loads on resin , you will need to buy resin still , but nowhere near as much as with DI only .

Hope this helps , im sure you will get lots of help from others on this one

Thanks for the replys guys!!

as mentioned above, I am also on a water meter.

What size of DI bottle whould I need? If I was using 250L of water a day how long do they last?

Sorry to ask so many silly questions, but I dont want to buy a small bottle and have to top it up every other day.

I was looking at some bits from this site http://www.reachandclean.co.uk/spare.htm

Thanks agian for all your help  ;)
