I am taking on my first employee tomorrow .

how much do you guys pay yours ?

what  do you do about holiday pay ?

what about paying in bad weather?

It is time to take the plunge . i have got my wife back working ,now the school holidays are over. and got a new employee as well.so i can go and chase some new work . and hopefully buy a new van this week.
his wages are already covered as there is normally about £500 of work a month i dont get round to doing and can not usually fit in any extras ,gutters ,insides etc.

Something I'd like to do one day, but people say it's not worth the hassle for a few extra quid.

Good luck with yours though, and if it goes well I may do the same. :)

I got one who works for me i pay him £250 a week he sorts his own tax and n.i out himself he just registers himself as self employed then takes it from there.
Kinda contracted. He works 5 days 9 til 4 with 1 hour lunch.

Hope that helps

I pay mine £7 p/hr he's 21 just put him up from £6 p/h
plus we normally get finnished early but as long as the days work is done I pay him for full day (he works faster to finnish early), Told him from start he'd have to put his own money to one side for hollidays (he's ok with it)
Plan to put him on his own van (complete with WFP)as a self employed in the next couple months,

Pay peanuts get monkey's (I tend to look after the good ones it's easier than keep training new one's)
The secret is not doing as you like but liking what you do

If this lad happen not to pay his tax ect, and said he worked 5 days a week for you I think you will find your self responsible for his tax & insurance.

If he works 5 days a week for you, and none of the jobs are his but yours he would be classed as an employee.

Im not been picke but just warning becarefull.

i have put him on £6.50 hour and he is going to be flexible with hours so that suits us both .

Now would you start the pay from pick up to drop off or from the start of the first job to the end of the last job ?

Dodgy ground mate.I think you will find that a self employed cleaner for you they  have to have their  own pubilc liabilty insurance and also he has to have a break form you every so many weeks because if he works for you straight then the IR will defo class him as an employee and then they will back date all his ni,tax etc etc and you could also get told about not having the correct employers liabilty insurance which is a legal requirment..........tricky ground

If you take someone on, on a self employed base, the law has change, you can not have him has a full time worker. I am sure you wont to keep with in the law.
