varie stream 2
« on: September 03, 2005, 06:25:09 pm »
Hi all

should the variestream 2 stop the pump from running when i diconnect the pole on the stop valve .
i have had problems with pressure build up in my system and connecters popping off . as the pump just keeps on running .and i thought it is supposed to stop the pump.   ???

I had similar problem and phoned Williamsons up after the top blew off my di - in fairness the threads weren't the best and I had a replacement ready
They told me that the pump continues but only builds to 75psi before recyling the water - I think that meant releasing the pressure and letting it build up again
All the same, I got told before I bought the pump and varistream, that I could leave it running for hours on end (with no water flowing) with no probs - unfortunately I cannot be so confident and tend to leave the hose disconnected for no more than a minute or two
when I reconnect the hose after much longer, it is a bit tricky and I get a good blast of water
They said to call them if it was still a problem but I don't fancy experimenting - too much like playing with a time bomb ;D

75 psi seems quite a lot under sealed pressure . can all hoses and conneccters stand up to that .  i thought it would sense the flow had stopped aand shut off a lot lower than that.

Dave I have a stop tap at the end of the hose when I stop the flow, the varistream stops straight away and no peasure build up at all.

yes i have disconnected the wires  to the pressure switch at the top of the pump and just use the 2 wires coming from the bottom of the pump straight to the controller

Inside the varistream there isa little blue turning switch, it is in increments from a - j, turn it down a notch or 2, this will cause the varistream to cut the pump at a lower pressure.

Roy - is yours the mark 2 varistream - if you are getting it to stop with a shut off tap it should be the same for the stop valve - also what pump are you using - I got the sureflo 100 - bit of a puzzler this :-\

Had the very same problem...as I also have a stop tap at end of hose and once I turn the pump on in the morning I leave it on all day.
I reconected the pressure switch and to date works great..
my green light stays on, why don't know.. I have 100 amp hr battry that gets carged over the week end and it now last,s me all week.

you are correct about the blue dial inside the controller .i have just phoned  williamsons   and they have confirmed everything you said .
the controller is set up for different pumps and should be adjusted accordingly .

I had problems with mine not cutting out when i first got it.
Phone williams pumps they told me how to turn the pressure down but adjusting the blue dial inside.
Have had no problems since disconnect a hose or pinch the hose and it's off straight away
Mine is also the MK2 model.

I wouldn't be without it now

Davinda

i have just set to `c` that is all my connectors can stand before 1 of them starts to leak i have 100psi pump.

to test put short hose to your outlet with a auto stop connector .it saves waiting for 50m hose to pressurise .
then after 2 mins the pump should stop .you will hear the pump start to operate for a split second every 2 secs then after 10 mins of leaving the pump powered but not running. the pulsing was every 10 secs .
if you dont fully understand email me and i will give you my number.

Cheers Dave I did understand that, and that's a good tip about the short test hose - I should have known it would be C cos that's what I used to put in multiple choice when I didn't have a clue what the answer was ;D
