I lift mine out about 10 times a day, havent got a bad back from it though.
I have been thinking of getting a second hose reel and 50m of microbore, I currently have 100m on a reel and I very rarely use more than 50m

I cut about 30 metres off my 100metre reel, as i never need reach it that far, i think it makes quite a difference on the weight.

Why would you want to lift it out?
I'd rather mine was bolted down, although to be fair mine has come unstuck and tumbles about. ;D

A wipper snapper like you getting a bad back Mark ?

Once I've got them damm seats out of the van, I'm fixing the hose reel down and having a roller on the bumper that I can lower when needed.yt

Just lift it with your arm, don’t tug, drag or twist and pull any other part of your body, don’t try and change your technique when lifting it just because you may be a little tired near the end of the day.

You won’t even notice the weight after a few months; it’s no different to getting the pole out of the van.

What poles do you use Ewan ?

Sorry I forgot you don't ;D

I use to live in London in the eighties, cleaning windows then it was everyday occurrence to go second story up and walk along and over come obstacles the length of the building to clean the windows, many times just holding on by your fingertips, one hand of course while you use the other to clean the window.

That’s evidence, but not the kind you will ever understand. I don’t feel the need to prove I have a van and wfp system.

You never cleaned windows in London in the eighties you liar.

Your original posts on here claimed you'd been in the game for less than 2 years.

You're full of poope

Hello all.

Left my job to go self employed as a full time Window Cleaner last April.

Need help on, trying to work out should I base my Hourly rate on 24 - 30 hours cleanning only per week?(based in the Midlands). What would be a the lowest rate for me to cover all expenses and make success of building a small business.
(or survive the 1st year).

All comments welcome.  Thanks

Didnt have the nouce to be able to price a job.

Every day mate & have done for over 6 years no problem. My oppinion is, if you struggle to do this then you will struggle to do the job itself.

When lifting heavy things technique is the key :)

Hi,
Whilst I agree that keeping your back straight is the correct way of lifting heavy items, some of us are unable to lift a hose reel out of the van using this technique. The problem is that even if the hose reel is near the back doors, we still need to lean forward as the rear step protrudes out.  My sons hose reel is 100m whilst mine is 70m. I notice a big difference in weight between the two of them.
