Round values rising? Or is it just me?
« on: July 08, 2010, 10:03:19 pm »
Once upon a time the standard round value was about 3 x the monthly clean and you could often pick up a bargain at x2 a month!!!

I always thought that was low from a sellers point of view when you think of the returns on investment.

But I notice a lot of people that advertise lately are selling rounds for a lot more.

Good on them - it's about time the '3 x a month' mentality was done away with.

I just wondered has anyone else noticed this trend or is it just me?

...and what your thoughts are on round values?

A round is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
With WFP becoming cheaper, guys are more prepared to pay more for a round.
£10K can get you a van, WFP setup, traditional kit and a decent round.
As start up costs for a business go that is nothing, you could pay the £10K back in 2 years whilst paying yourself a decent wage.

Its funny that when some are selling a round they want a high price maybe 5 or 6 cleans, but when it comes to buying work the same people wouldnt pay more than 2 or 3 cleans !

I agree, it come down to supply and demand. Just seems that maybe the demand is more these days?

The North West area seems to have a high value.

The South East and East Anglia seem to have the most for sale.

In the North East they get snapped up 'quick as out' but they seem to be valued less for some reason.

That'd be me your talking about!  ;D

No seriously, most rounds I've sold I've got 3 or 4 cleans worth. (The first one I sold when I left sunny Hartlpool back in 96' at the tender age of 20 I got £1200 for £600 a month of work a month and thought I'd done well to get that!)

Years later sold work in Newcastle and got 4 cleans for most of that, 6 cleans for some good commercial stuff.

Thing is in London the work I sold was priced a lot better but it was harder to sell because it was so easy to canvass there!

I think thats the thing though, how hard it is to canvass in the surrounding area.

Trust you Ian  ;D,

No was just selecting a few different areas on there and comparing regions and was an observation.

Actually, "since you brought it up"  ;) They talk about Scotland but its Wales that seem to be the tight lot! (No offense to my friends at the WCW. )

Though I think that's likely to do with the population ratio to be fair...

That rounds site is getting an average of 600 different visitors A DAY now! WELL pleased with that. - ( now there's the subtle plug for you Ian  ;D)

You'll be getting me in bother you...get back to the topic at hand. :-X

I do think that its a sellers market now more than a buyers market as it was at one time.

Still, I have to say, canvassing is king if you have the time and motivation.

Now you've done it  :o - Good job I bought Mike a cup of coffee at Windex.

Didn't buy YOU one because you keep making fun of my suit.

Though after reading another recent thread on the topic of suits you are probably right - bad idea.
