 well where to begin .boy o boy .what a day.

job 1 same time

my first effort was on a house with 3 dormer windows which are dangerous anyway .the customer was fine ,and said she would phone to let me know what they are like .ok so far.

job 2 lot slower

second job not so good .the side which gets most of the wind was full of salt spray and it was bright sunlight on that side .i was rinsing for ages and they were still running milky. the trouble was i think my brush not being able to jet the 4 in on each side of the glass ,the windows were sheeting on the middle third only and i could not get the water to hit the sides as capilary action was pulling the water to the middle .so i was brushing dry glass with the bristles .end result the windows were appalling .so i had to get my ladder and blade them .the rest of the house was ok apart from spots 2ins on the sides of the glass. the customer is a long term one who will defo not jump ship so ok there.

then alas ran out of water.so back on the ladder,till lunch then refill.

job 3  loads faster

were sash and sash georgion . they sheeted beautifully and seemed spotless but i was not looking to closely as it was an office building on the edge of the estuary so they are always smothered in salt spray that job was a lot quicker than ladders.

now the fun begins i managed to get the rest of my jobs done on the ladder so i decided to do a small school at 5.00 pm then no water was coming out of my brush . (dont laugh now)managed to trace it to a cheap hose connector which kept stopping the water flowing so a little push and  i was back in business ,so back to business ,then again no water b*******d had done it again but the pressure build up blew another connecter of the pump and soaked my car so i tightened them up . so after running 100 yards back to my car at least 10 times to fix my connecters .(really cursing ) which kept popping or blocking i finally managed to do the school in less than an hour which normally takes 1h 20 m .not bad seens i ran out of water 2/3 of the way round.the results were not bad ,i noticed the odd run and spots when i had finished ,but what the heck i was not going to do them again after all it is only a school and me being a cowboy an all.

any way got another school in the morning just got to figure out how to get more water there. but it is local so i could  always go back home.

well what a waffle .getting as bad as that rick fella .

Have not read all your post, but your like the words.... SPOTS

Some very good advice (if you wont to take it) DONT say the words SPOTS to any your customers and they wont go looking for them

I use mine on every job top and bottem , and i cant see me going back ever !
Do you know i aint done an outside window by hand in over 2 weeks .

it will be a sad day to see another trad turn WFP and dont tell me its not happening to you becasue i can tell by your post....

I never thought we would see the day Dave,glad you`ve finally give it a go,the jobs that you use it on do get better and for the first couple of cleans and runs or dirty marks left just goes to show how much dirt doesn`t get cleaned off using trad methods so the more you use it the better the job gets,all the best with it Dave,i think the more tools you use and the more options you`ve got makes the job more interesting anyway,keep that pole on the go,Gaz.

That milky smear running down the glass is the paint from the frames, it will kept on doing this for some time, but what I do which seems to work is to really scrub the frames without touching the glass, then clean your brush head and carry on with the other windows, when I have finshed them I go back to the milky one and then only clean the glass.

Seriously, keep with it, in a few weeks time you will wonder why it took you so long  and dont forget Dave - you have not completely banned your loyal friend 'the ladder' to the big graveyard in the sky.  You can still use him if you feel the job requires it.

the milky runs were plastic framed windows ,it is just the shear amount of salt on the seaward side.as i said my brush could not wet and brush at the same time on the edges as it was sheeting towajrds the middle of the pain.

any how i found out today what wfp is realy for 
i did the other school today. what a breeze it was an old victorian school with the dreaded small panes .and after a few popping connecters (got another two today , jusy one dodgey hose lock to do )and my hose springing a leak .it went very well and the results were spot on .no milking at all and sheeting perfectly.it was a hell of a lot quicker.i ran out of water just leaving all the new windows ground floor and 4 high windows to do by hand .then that is when i realy noticed the difference.what a pane i thought 100 panes to do by hand aaaarrrrgggghhh.it was horrible after the speed of wfp.all in all it was a job which justified the wfp.

Good on you DAVE. I too had a much better day yesterday. I made a scabbard for my pole and bolted it on the trolley. That saved me loads of time. I was doing the fronts of terrace houses, do one pole in scabbard do the next and so on. I was wheeling it with the pole extended ready for the next house. I was keeping a good look out for power cables. got cought up in a tree once but every thing else went ok. Did the backs with the ladder, not worth manovering the trolley down long back gardens to do two windows. Had 3 other wc's pull up to take a look at the system. Have to be quick to take advantage of WFP before they all get one. Have you got a veriflow fitted? It should stop you blowing off connectors as it stops the pump when you turn off the tap or dissconect. Dai

yes i have got the variflow fitted but i think its faulty i will ring them tommorrow .it does not shut the pump off at all
