Doesn't apply for commercial use.  Its a joke really as you can still water your garden and wash your car as long as you use a bucket!

Last hosepipe ban I wasn't allowed to clean my car with a hosepipe but I could go down the hand car wash and pay some Eaestern European bloke a fiver to do it with a pressure washer. Doesn't seem quite right somehow.

Commercial users only affected if it goes to a full ban!!! i.e standpipes ;)

It will effect business a bit as you will always have the people who think its the right thing to do!!!

If only i was paid as much as a water board executive ;D

The Flood & Water Management Act 2010 says:

Quote
A water undertaker may prohibit one or more specified uses of water
supplied by it if it thinks that it is experiencing, or may experience, a
serious shortage of water for distribution.

Only the following uses of water may be prohibited—
(a) watering a garden using a hosepipe;
(b) cleaning a private motor-vehicle using a hosepipe;
(c) watering plants on domestic or other non-commercial premises
using a hosepipe;
(d) cleaning a private leisure boat using a hosepipe;
(e) filling or maintaining a domestic swimming or paddling pool;
(f) drawing water, using a hosepipe, for domestic recreational use;
(g) filling or maintaining a domestic pond using a hosepipe;
(h) filling or maintaining an ornamental fountain;
(i) cleaning walls, or windows, of domestic premises using a
hosepipe;
(j) cleaning paths or patios using a hosepipe;
(k) cleaning other artificial outdoor surfaces using a hosepipe.

According to the United Utilities website only the washing of private vehicles, watering of private gardens and watering private allotments with a hosepipe had been banned. They have not stated cleaning paths or patios (j) and cleaning other outdoor surfaces (k) so therefore it has not been banned.

Get out there and get back to work.
