as its an extension of your office cleaning and seeing as you didn't give them a price, there probably expecting you to do it for the same hourly rate, so whats that add up too? £40?,
Dont know Derek, but if your correct he might do the office cleaning for only £10 ph, but he will or should have a fixed contract, so 12 months at maybe 10 hrs pw is a guaranteed £5200 pa, I have office cleaning jobs that range from £7.50 to over £35 ph, I do pick and choose jobs to suit the business, as I also do with carpet cleaning, window cleaning and oven cleaning, if I'm not busy I will work for a lower rate. Think about it, if you had 50 jobs at £10 ph 10hrs pw, if you make a £2 clear profit ph at 500 hrs supplied pw, its around a £1000 pw, these are figures from employing others to do the work for you, dont get me wrong it is hard work employing people and it can be a pain, sorting cover for sickness, hols etc, but its bread and butter £'s in the bank at the end of the day
Ive only posted because I feel your trying to say office cleaning is always done at a low rate, it isnt Derek, £35 ph is easily grossed for small jobs.
Excellant post Westy, i am similar to yourself, we have over 25 contracts, ranging from 1 hour to 45 hours per week, prices from 11 quid to 1 at 43 quid per hour.
yes it is hard work coping with staff, but if you are careful with who you employ, and carry out good training, it has its benefits.
On the upside, if i am very busy with cc, i can pull 1 of the guys mid day when they are quiet, and they help with the carpet side.
When i set out a new contract, i give them the price, then 1 for consumables, 1 for windows, 1 for carpets and so on, all have their own rate. I set off as carpet cleaning in 89, have tm, scorpion, rotaries and all the gear.
I also understand where Derek is coming from when he says do it for a tenner, as that is what a lot will charge, they may just have a numatic or even hire in a RD :
