how much water??
« on: September 02, 2005, 07:39:51 pm »
Well im going to get a trolley!? shock horror!  :-\

I graft hard for 8 hours in a day.

If i was to clean for 8 hours with wfp doing tops and hard to reach areas using a regulator and nozzles that help with water usage how many ltrs do you think i would use.

I can knock out 4-5 average sized detatched houses using trad methods so at least would have to do the same.

Just trying to work out whether i should just pile the van up with containers of pure water or get a van mount tank to get water from.

Swings and roundabouts cos if i fill up containers then its done whilst at work but a tank is easier to fill at night and can hold loadsa water.

How much do you guys use? If you dont work 8 hrs how much would you use?

I still want to work the same hours and cant get home easilly for water.

 Cheers guys.

Hello Mark,

I have a 50ltr Omnitrolley and with a regulator I empty it in an average of 5 houses (3/4 bedroom deatched).  As a rough estimate I use between 250-300 ltrs a day.

To date the 1000 ltr tank has never gone out full as I fill  it up  every night to save on petrol costs and wear & tear carying weight I dont need.  If I could do it again I would probably fit a smaller one say 650 ltr.

I would say if you work an 8 hr shift you would use between 400-450 ltrs per day but thants a gestimate based on my usage only - others may calculate differently so I'd take an average just to cover yourself.

Hope that helps.
Sarah

We use about 600 litres a day - two of us - but we clean everything with wfp

I am finding it all depends on whether they are first cleans cos they use a lot more water - so an accurate guess would have to be when you are cleaning from second time around - 300 litres should go a long way for normal use

I can easily use 300 litres a day on my own in about 5 hours, but I do have my water on a high(ish) flow rate, that way I don't get any spotting problems at all.
