Hi Guys,

I have cleaned a few roofs over the years and have done all off of ladders/access equipment. But the one i looked at the other day is a pantile style roof with no moss on it and the client just wants it cleaned to match his extension so wondered if anyone has done a roof clean with just chemicals from the floor? And what chemicals? As this would be a hell of a lot easier!!

The picture was taken about 1 year after, but it looked like that after about 6 months.

Richy can I ask a few questions if you do not mind?

1 can I use my existing wfp set up to apply via a backpack
2 Does it contaminate the back pack and hoses

The reason I ask as I have just the roof to try this on, mine. and if it works well I would probably buy a second backpack for this type of work but at the moment it would be for my own use but I would not want to contaminate my wfp equipment.

Im not sure if you're asking me or the other Richy, but the short answer is i dont know. I wouldn't do it personally.
You dont need a backpack sprayer. You can use a pump sprayer. Did you plan on spraying from a roof ladder or from the floor?

yes it was you I was asking, I have a pump sprayer as well I could rig up. From the floor would be ideal but if needed from a ladder to the gutter. I was trying to avoid the roof ladder route as if I am doing that i may as well just remove the moss while I an there. Thanks for the reply

I have made a head unit for an extending pressure washing lance and I can currently clean roofs to 24 foot, from the ground or from a scaffold tower.

It has two wheels and  a turbo nozzle head.

I used it last year on a millionaires property, in Tadworth - Surrey that we struggled for access on some of the roof.

It works, may need some refining but it does the job!!!!

I don't.

We made one from scratch out of rolled steel and used it successfully but it was too heavy and bent the top section of the extending lance.

The second one has been made out of a golfing trolley and is light and works very well.

Rob,

I also made a something for cleaning roofs from the ground. My main problem was keeping it on the roof surface. The pressure keeps rising and you need pressure to clean the roof.

I was using the Powerpole extension..

You need it to be higher than that.

With the trolley that we put together the turbo nozzle stands about 8 inches from the roof tiles.
