Interviews
« on: July 05, 2010, 08:12:38 pm »
Blimey,
holding some interviews tomorrow,  very exciting as our little business is actually starting to grow.

I have got a few more hours to work out some more questions.  Has anyone got any good questions to fire at potential employees?

Cheers guys

what expereince have you got ??

Here goes

How did you get here today?  ( make sure it's their car etc )

In the last two years how many days have you taken off due to sickness?

Do you have someone in place to look after your children in an emergency?

We opearate in a 5 mile radius from here, is that a problem?

If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

a word of warning re the children question.  It is classed as sex discrimination to only ask this of female applicants so make sure you can prove you ask everyone this regardless of sex.

Give them a few scenerios and ask them how they would deal with them. Test their people skills and personal competencies

I spent years in recruitment and all the above questions are great
One i love to use is "so why should i offer you this position" let them sell themselves and you can use this to probe further, this will allow you to control the interview whilst letting them do the work and the talking.

thanks guys,  After a very surprising amount of applicants we have taken on 2 people.  Starting next month.

Both have no children and both have their holidays booked for the last week of July.  How convenient?

Thanks a lot of all the input and tips.

Cheers
