How many of you use adwords and what sort of sucess have you had from it? ive just set up an account and from what i can gather its about 1.18 per click  :o

What sort of budget should i set?
Im also a bit concerned about other local companys clicking on my listing just to cost me money  >:(  does any one know if google has anything in place to combat this or is it just tough?

Don't forget to set the search area to within your home area or you will get clicks from around the country( I set mine at 10miles from my postcode)

i set a budget of £3  Day

not sure about stopping competitors clicking, but i'm sure they will just to check you out

Hi Karl,

I believe that anyone can only click on your site once where you will be charged as the ip address from the computer is then registered against that click. if they do it again from the same computer whether its a minute later or days then you will not be charged..........thats what i got told anyway!
i am here to learn and appreciate any help

to be honest i would spend that budget on your site optimizing it to show up better in natural listings

If one of your competitors does spend all morning clicking onto your site they can, what will happen is your allowance will be used up for the day, and you will only return on google the next day, what google will do is send you a message letting you know that click fraud has happened, they will then credit back your account. But that does not help when your web site does not show for most of the day.

My site has only been live for a couple of weeks, how long does it take for a site to settle in and start ranking at its best if that makes any sense.

i am far from an expert but it will depend on if your site has been optimized eg meta tags , keywords, discriptive text etc.

if you can find your site on the natural listings you can see when google lasted indexed it by clicking on the cached link your your listing

Don't do adwords on a new site, you will be wasting your money and put you off it forever.

It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

I did adwords whislt my site was new and waiting for it to climb up the pages.
It got my business name into places to be seen that the website wasnt at that time.
Derek still seems to do adwords so something must be ok for him.

It's a pretty solid tool early on while you work at generating free, organic traffic.
