New Porty update
« on: July 02, 2010, 04:44:31 pm »
I posted recently that i am at present using my 135 psi standard twin vac Ninja and finding it a hard slog plus not happy with Ashby's prices for service etc, also wanted to have the benefit of a spare machine just in case.

Was looking at the Airflex turbo 600 triple vac and also interested in the "new" machine from Solutions but dont know when that is likely to be availlable.

I took some of the advice on my original post and looked into upgrading my Ninja to more powerful twin vac and 400 psi pump but that was going to cost about £1100 :P

Then that "infamous" machine came up on ebay which turned out to be completely legit just for the record Mat at Cleansmart said all we had to do was ask him.

I made an offer to the guy who is Polish and a nice guy, he accepted and i went up Wedneday to have a look, he had all the paperwork from Cleansmart and the machine had just 8 hours on it, it was in mint condition, plus 75ft hose, really nice wand also mint, a snail blower, Glidemaster tool, a 6 litre  Orion pump up sprayer better than the one i have,  threw in so much stuff you could start a business with what he wanted to get rid of  and about £300 worth of unopened chemicals too had a problem getting it all in the van :)

I must admit i was a bit wary and i would have loved to buy a new machine from Mat but i think it's a very good deal paid £2000 for the lot the guy only started this year and has really struggled getting the work had the equipment but did not appreciate the importance of marketing the fact the machine only had 8 hours shows how bad it must have been, must admit i would not fancy cleaning carpets where he was did not look like you could park anywhere ???

So today used the Airflex for the first time and must say the variant of the Ninja i had before and is now my spare macnine ;D is not in the same league the difference is incredible, i may have to get a glide of some sort as it clamped itself to the carpet, used it at 400 psi, had a minging church hall to do carpet tiles sprayed powerburst rinsed with plain water,my hourly rate is definately going to go up as worked through it at twice the speed.

I have the manual that came with it, and it says "dont let the pump run dry" i am a little concerned by this as this happens when you work all the time you simply stop and refill is this right?

Just need a local guy to service it which according to the machine dont need doing until November Mat says he will let me know the nearest, so far very pleased with my new baby, and hope i made the right choice the way i look at it is £1100 to have one decent machine, or spend £2000 and have a back up machine plus a Airflex turbo 600 i think it's a no brainer.

I would have liked the Rotovac too, it was the new version the 360 but it would have almost cleared my account and could not risk losing my working capital,  it's still for sale but dont think it's as good a deal.
I could not believe how much other stuff  he had, i was like a kid in a toy shop ;D he just wanted it gone and was throwing it in the van to be honest i felt quite guilty :-[ but thats business i suppose.

Bit concerning it had only 8 hours on it.  The guys marketing must have been pants.

Not in less it is a ringer, and is 2 machines made into one, or maybe its been clocked. ;D

kidding aside, sounds a great deal.

No chance :o
It came with all the paperwork including receipts and is still under warranty which Mat at Cleansmart has honoured which was thoroughly decent of him since i got the machine second hand.
This guys garage was full of unopened chemicals and tons of other equipment which he included, he explained that he did not realise how difficult it would be to get customers.
he had it 8 months and put 7 hours on the clock :o it was in mint condition inside and out.

if all he could do was 7hrs work in 8 months he did not even attempt to start a business, he must have put 3 of them hours practicing on his own carpets,

an alien from planet Zog could land here tomorrow, find a machine and still find more than 4 hours work in 8 months, and that with him only speaking Zoganese :P :P

he could not have even done the most basic of marketing like speak to family and friends or he would have found more work

Interesting as Matt gives a Marketing Kit  with all machines which I think is an excellent idea

Perhaps he worked in Factories and did not get spare time to get started

Or his english was not good

I would have thought he could have done well cleaning Carpets for polish workers at the end of the Tennacy

Hi Nigel

What has amazed me since being in The  Carpet Cleaning Industry is the number of University type people doing it

Airflex must be a good machine if it is suitable for high end  net worth clients

Or do you  use a truck mount also?

Why not get you clock fixed under the guarantee.

I am impressed by your web site   Read Your Draught Mark Page Been having problems with draught marks in my Low End Rental Market , what product do you use,?

Well done for  a good deal!
You wont go wrong with it. Just watch for foam as the Airflex hates it due to the turbulance.

I'v had mine running for a year now and suspect the pump may be leaking....not bad for one year! Have a spare seal repair kit waiting though. ;)

Probably the best machine on the market in my oppinion.

Hi Ian,

I  have  a Blueline Thermalwave as well. The Airflex is for the inaccessible jobs.

I am not taking the Airflex all the way to Nottingham to repair a clock. Its not necessary. I just commented because we keep hearing of 2nd hand Airflex machines with "unbelievably" low hours.

I do not use any "one" product for draught marking. There are a number of products that may work and occasionally none at all. The most important thing is to take the time to find out which product works in  each situation. Removing draught marking adds a considerable amount of time to a job and you need to price accordingly.

Yes the clock has always worked, it has about 110 hours on it at the moment, the guys english was not very good and he said the reason he had problems was when people realised he was Polish they wanted it done for nothing.
He had a Rotovac as well but my budget would not stretch that far i must admit i was sceptical myself but that machine was untouched inside and out, not a scratch, even after only a 100 hours i have put on it at has the odd scratch etc.

Ps the guy did have money though he had a brand new 4x4 outside the house.
