Cleaning and sanitising bin area
« on: July 01, 2010, 11:01:12 pm »
Hi all

Can anyone advise how they clean and sanitise the bin area for a block of flats, this is not something I have done before, but is part of the requirements for weekly cleaning at a block of flats I am currently quoting to get the contract.

Thanks in advance

Hi Mary

we use a chemical called byotrol, which is a microbial biocide, it is certified to kill MRSA, E-COLI,C-DIFF, LEGIONELLA, LISTERIA etc, etc.

we use it if we ever needto sterilise/sanitise a pub cellar after an eviction, as landlords tend to do nasty things when they know they are going to be kicked out.

it keeps working on all surfaces for upto 7 days,it has also been tested as safe by the environment agency, I will email you some details.

Mary, bin areas are a nightmare which all depends on the tennants, the bins if provided and to what extent they expect you to clear up after the week before. If wheely bins are provided it'll be easier but if its bags then best of luck. Personally I'd use a cheap disinfectant as its only £2 a gallon
