going from trade to wfp
« on: June 30, 2010, 12:45:43 am »
Iv decided to try the wfp, but im not sure what i really need for my round, im going to keep doing the bottoms trade as i have a  astravan and cant fit to much water in there.
so iv decided the pure freedom 50l trolly might do the job think i could fit 8  25l barrels plus trade gear

Pure freedom do a package deal  i think i should upgrade on a couple of things so any advice on this would be apprecited

•RO System - 450GPD  in the package deal theres is a 200 do i need the 450 or would the 200 be ok for me?

•Pole Type - CXTEL24 (24 ft 5 section Carbon Fibre they offer GXTEL17 (17FT 4 section glass fibre the pole they offer is worth £100 but the fibre ones are £400 is this a good pole anyone use it? and is 24ft pole what most ppl use

Most guys use Gardiners SLX... They have brought out a new model - CLX. Not used it, but have held it. They are light. I use brodex hydra alloy as I'm heavy handed.

Personally I'd stay away from the fibreglass ones as they are heavy and whippy extended.

Depending on your water pressure you may need to leave the 200gpd on constantly.

Remember you will need storage for your water. You can find ibc tanks on ebay for around £50 or you can go down the water butt route. Wilko's sell them for £20 for a 200L barrel
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

do your research first mate and look at the back posts if your not getting any answers straight away! ;)

whats your tds from the tap(mines 35 so DI ONLY)

I have the 50L TROLLEY and i love it!its great for a lot of my very compact work and it doubles up as a mini van mount for the odd stand alone job.

if you have  a lot of scattered larger jobs then a van mount would be the better option i think and then just get a backpack for awkward to reach places.

the trolley will do me for now but in a few years ill probably get a bigger van and van mount/backpack combo as i take on bigger better paying jobs!! ;) ;D ;D

best wishes

Dave,

I have a astravan which i use for work, i was trad and am now wfp, my system was from pure freedom, i have the 300gpd RO and with a booster pump it makes 200 litres in under 5 hours,

i have a 210 litre tank which i think fits the best in the astravan i started with the 250 got rid the 210 fits better, started with the 17ft xtel fibre glass but now have a 24ft carbon fibre facelift pole, I use a tap on the pole which is from pure freedom and i can make the 200 litres last, i have done £200 days with only 200 litres, and thats wfp everything not just tops and trading bottoms

the astravan isnt the best to use for wfp but i use it and i earn good money, i wouldnt bother with a trolley system, it will strain your back lifting 25kg+ in and out of the back 20+ times a day especially with the tailgate on the astravan

my advice would be defo buy a booster pump no ifs or buts, it has nearly tripled my water production,

buy the best pole you can as you will be using it all day everyday, fibreglass is crap they are heavy bendy and wear out fast,

use a tap on your pole to save water, why people dont i think is crazy! without a pole tap you will use double at least which is a complete waste of money, extra fuel to carry it resin to make it water bill etc etc

I think it's a "fear factor" thing - break in the custies gently. And sometimes water/refills is an issue if working from a car or very small van.

You really need 400L + and good water management if you want to scrub everything all day long without a refill.
It's a game of three halves!
