Market Traders Federation v Window Cleaning Federation
« on: August 30, 2005, 08:10:44 pm »
A few years ago I use to be a market trader. http://www.nmtf.co.uk/join.htm

Well I joined the market traders federation and for my fee of £50 I was given FREE public liablity insurance plus FREE legal advice if needed, discounted van insurance plus many other benefits.

Now if this federation can look after its members in this way, why can't others do the same.

i was with the fed for 5 years and did not get nothing out of it all apart from a big hole in my wallet.
when i first joined 6 years ago they sent me a leaflet saying try to earn aprox £10 hour .what a big mistake that was it held my business back for quite a while .how wrong they were.
also they said i would be included in some sort of tender type list. and guess what nothing .
yes i did belong to trade body. even had it on my cards ,the customers always asked whats that and half of them just laughed when i explained and thought i was pulling there legs. i can honestly say i never won or lost a customer by it .all the customers wanted to know is ,if i could clean windows and how good.

i am all for the fed to have a kick up the backside ,and see what they could actually do for me .
then i will renew my membership.

HI Everyone,

Well I am a member, it hasn't done anything for me :-(

However, like i mentioned last week. A new FED should be formed, one for window cleaners by window cleaners.

I am all for starting a new federation, one that is useful and has lots of unbiased training. I would be willing to invest my money and time.

Sorry to disapoint Matt, but I think its a waste of money, they are a old mans club, so many things wrong with it I dont think its worth fixing.

What it needs is another to start up.

As above with the objective's to give members better deals on everything, help w/cleaners to grow thier bussines not keep telling them what training they need,

It would have been nice to see the fed start a forum like this,

I,m afraid that I,m letting my membership laps this year My money will be better spent on PWC mag and risk assesment software (both will help me get more work)

You don't say how much you are being charged at the moment, you could try this link.

Hi William,

I pay £226 per annum, this is to cover 2 people inclusive of £500 loss of equipment per person, 1,000,000 public liability with £100 excess on third party damage.

how does that sound?
