I have an astravan. I had something simlar. Get an auto electrician around.
My problem was something shorting and confusing the electrics. I could stall my engine when i took the key out just by pushing the brake pedal. My dash stayed lit at all times.

Hi
If the problem is electronic then it may help to reset the ICU. You can do this by switching the ignition on and then disconnecting the positive battery terminal. Leave it for a couple of minutes (literally) then switch the ignition off. Reconnect your battery.
Please note that you will loose your radio code on some radios so will have to know it before you start with this procedure. No guarantees given though.
But taking to a Vauxhall dealer is the best advise, albeit expensive.
